Has anyone current experience with this MBA program? Is it comparable/transferable to work done in residence at the uni?

I was both a DL and an on-campus student at Heriot-Watt. I can assure you, the two experiences are comparable. You get more 'value added' content when you are on-campus, but both programs use the same texts and you have to take the same exams.

    Thanks! That's reassuring to hear.

For 9 years, I was the US/Canada marketing representative for EBS (1991-1999). During that time, the program went from zero to become the largest MBA of any kind in the US, even larger (at that time) than Phoenix. We had clients at more than 70 of the Fortune 100 companies, 7 of the Fortune top ten. We kept data on the first 1,000 clients. All but 3 or 4 had acceptance by their employers -- sometimes automatically (because the university has an FICE number, which is what many HR people depend on), and some after either we or the employee provided course descriptions, sample materials, and/or copies of exams. A small percentage of the people did a combined program, mostly home study but one term (or even part of a term) on campus in Edinburgh (and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, with a little golf, fishing, trekking, or even single malt thrown in). We sold our marketing business to Pearson -- which, sadly, moved it to one of their US facilities in the World Trade Center. All is well now, but there was a fairly long period of real challenges.
