I wasn't referring to ranking, specifically. When you combine the ranking with the Ivy League "name," Teachers College has a lot to offer.

Michigan State is a great brand name but it's hard to beat the Ivy League for name recognition.

Didn’t write that it didn’t. The “You won't find a bigger "name" in education than Teachers College at Columbia” … was IMO confusing and not quite accurate; but certainly no harm done. :cool2:

Confusing? Perhaps, but only if you take it beyond what I intended it to mean. I was speaking of name recognition, and as Kismet noted, it's hard to beat Ivy League schools in that department. I'm not sure it is a matter of accuracy, anyway! :)

    No worries, though!

You won't go wrong with a degree from any of the top 25 schools in education, but for the person not versed in the subtle nuances of ranking, Columbia > Michigan State in terms of general prestige/recognition.

Great program. Great school. Thanks for posting. I'll take your side Stefan, I'd chose Columbia over Michigan State.
