Many of you do not know me. That is my own fault since I mostly read discussions rather than participate. I have been involved here (mostly passive) since 2002. If I had listened to some of you, I would have never continued my trek towards my MBA. I wish Mark Israel was still among us so that I could thank him for his advice. I also would like to thank fellow alumnus -Kevin- Resident Redneck for his advice as well.

Having received my MBA with a concentration in Marketing from the University of North Alabama on December 17, 2010, I wanted to let everyone know how great their program was.

I was accepted by several colleges, Texas A&M Commerce, University of Wyoming, and the University of Georgia. In the end, I went with UNA because of the sincerity of their faculty and staff. They really did care about knowledge transfer rather than dollar transfer (me to them)! UNA does not use TAs to teach; only full professors. Everyone including the dean of the college is accessible and willing to help.

I cannot say enough about this school, not because I graduated from there, but because I really did learn some life lessons.
Though not public information, UNA is two years into their four year plan for AACSB accreditation. Currently, they hold ACSBP accreditation for their business school programs. If you are looking to do your MBA, give this school a look.

Thanks again to everyone and the knowledge base this site has become.

    Congratulations

However, not to be a Debbie Downer, maybe you should have waited to graduate from the program until it received AACSB status? The AACSB status will only apply to graduates of the program from the time it is implemented.

He said it's two years away, and besides, unless he wants a faculty position in a business school it won't matter anyway.

    Anyway, congratulations, Monte!

My time at UNA was under the AACSB process as will the classes that go forward until accreditation is received. It really does not matter that much to me.

My goal is NOT to get a DBA or PhD, but to continue graduate courses. I already have 18 hrs. in marketing and plan to add to my management and finance hours so that I can teach those two additional courses as well. Thanks everyone for the congratulations you have bestowed upon me.

It does not matter that you took the classes while they were under the process of being getting their AACSB accreditation. This accreditation, like most specialize accreditations, does not work retroactively and therefore means absolutely nothing for your degree. Don't get me wrong you have finished a grand achievement and deserve congratulations for finishing your MBA but the AACSB accreditation has absolutely ZERO bearing on the degree you hold, and no matter if the institution gets their accreditation tomorrow or 10 years from now it will still have absolutely no bearing on your degree.

I wonder how many people even bother to check to see the official date the school achieved the accreditation? I would hazard a guess that many HR people just check to see if the school has accreditation and then move on. I wouldn't be surprised if it's like this for many faculty positions too. I'm not saying it's universally like this but I have a hard time believing most people are going to take the time to dig that deep.
