So I know I'm spoiled being that up until lately I have only attended a B&M California Community College at $20 per unit. An entire semester's tuition usually ran me around $240 for a full load (12 Units). But now that I've graduated with my associates and I've transferred to a private university, I'm experiencing some sticker shock. I really like my university, the campus is great, and they offer the program I wanted in a hybrid format. I'm only 30 units away from completing my bachelors, and I just registered for 16 units at a cost of approximately $6,800. :eek13: Has anyone else experienced this?
We went through this with my wife. She did her associate's through a California CC (tuition was in the $14-16 range at the time) and then switched over to UMUC to finish her bachelor's when I got transferred to England. Luckily, rates went back down when I got transferred to Oklahoma and she was able to knock out her master's at a local state college.
$425 per unit - that is very expensive - you can obtain UD units for much less from lots of good schools.
Sure I could, but I'm very selective, and I like my school, the format, and my degree program which most schools don't have an ESM degree in a hybrid format.
well, just be thankful you had the forethought to complete your first 2 years at the cc. Can you imagine paying that for all 4 years? See, you saved a bundle lol.
Yeah going the community college route makes the most sense and it always did. I spoke to a women at work who attended Heald College and got an associates degree and she racked up $34,000 in student loans doing so. In comparison, my associates degree ran me around $2,800 including books. But again, I'm spoiled and that's why my current tuition costs have me uncomfortable. I know people have spent much more.
