  1. Anyone know much about the program and/or the school? (Yes, I did use the search function.) Interesting how they say the program is completely online which "allows busy professionals to complete their degrees without leaving their jobs or traveling great distances" but then they require you to come to some kind of summer residency which would require me to leave my job and travel a great distance.

Otherwise it looks pretty interesting, particularly the area of concentrations options...

Not familiar with their EdD, but Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center (ABA accredited) has some interesting 36 credit hours MS online programs in:

    Education Law
    Health Law
    Employment Law
Online Non-Lawyers Graduate Programs - Shepard Broad Law Center

But as with the EdD, the programs also require a residence phase, e.g. “… program will begin their second year of study with a Residential Institute (RI) that will take place on the NSU main campus in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.” :indifferent:

I have a friend who tried it for a year, I believe. I remember him saying he loved the courses (he said the program was solid), but it was expensive and the result of the false advertising that so many universities use to bait people ("without without leaving their jobs or traveling great distances") just made for costlier and challenging-in-the-office scheduling arrangements.

I think there are online doctoral programs from ONLY TWO schools: TUI and NCU. Everything else is hybrid at best, requiring costly butt-in-the-seat classroom/residency arrangements.

The Doctor of Health Education at A.T. Still University is also 100% online.

Nova is a solid school in the adjunct community. A bit spendy, but one of the more doable options out there because there are limited requirements for the residencies. As has been covered at length here on DI, the online-only options are slim - if someone could commit to a program with some limited residency requirements the options expand quite a bit.

Also, I think the area of "concentration" on many of these programs is not quite the benefit it is protrayed to be but rather more of a marketing tool. At the doctoral level, you have some flexibility to take classes and focus your research to support any area of specialization you choose within the scope of your program.

Thanks for the info. Also, I think the University of Nebraska's EdD in higher education may still be done 100% online (the PhD program in the same area now requires at least one term on campus)...

It is a good school. Over 100 of their graduates are presidents or VP's at colleges. The cost is up to you, but the school is fine
