Hi, it Nations U a legitimate university ? I heard that "Nations University is exempt from educational accreditation throughout the State of Louisiana and has legal authority under Louisiana law to grant degrees in religious studies" Is this true ?

Furthermore, is there any chance that they get accredited by DETC ?

I have attended Nations and I thought it was great! Like it was said above, it is unaccredited. YOU can gain admittance to Global and Liberty’s grad programs with your Nations degree. There were a few others that would allow admittance to their programs with it and I cannot recall who they were right now.

They are off the DETC list, but they are still working on it. They have made many changes to the program and like Michael said, (see below) it's been driving up the costs to run the free school.

Nations U is a legitimate, but unaccredited school. Nations U is an honorable attempt to provide a decent quality, Christian-based education free of charge. They are currently in the application process to be accepted by the DETC. It's not clear whether they will ever actually attain DETC accreditation because attaining it may require adopting practices that will drive up the costs.

It is possible that some organizations would accept credentials from this school, but one would have to approach each organization to find out. You might run into trouble there because of some severe disagreements between the Church of Christ and most other Christian denominations. It would seem likely that some organizations affiliated with the Church of Christ denomination might be favorable toward a degree from Nations U since that's their affiliation. However, I don't know this for a fact.

Yes moderators do evil things like that. :zx11pissed: Actually, it was an accident, sorry. I stuck a little "see below" in your post, hope that's OK.

    Hi --

Thinking back a while...the only other program I recall having any specific arangement for Nations grads was (RA) Lipscomb University, Nashville TN. A Bachelor's degree from Nations would suffice for conditional entry to the Master of Biblical Studies program at Lipscomb. I believe fully-admitted status only came after successful completion of 9 credits at Lipscomb. I have no idea if that arrangement with Lipscomb U. still exists or not. Nothing I could see on the Nations site about it today.

I did see something on Elearners forum (maybe you were part of the discussion, b4cz28) that one poster had found up to 20 RA universities that would admit Nations grads to further study. I assume that these were all for religion-oriented degrees.

Accredited or not - Nations is a very good school. I continue in wishing them every success.

NationsUniversity is completely legitimate. I know the founders personally and worked with school on some development projects are few years ago. I've stayed at Dr. Mac Lynn's home and eaten at his dinner table. Mac Lynn and his colleagues have earned my highest recommendation, if that means anything... :) The credits are good and cheap but transferability will be on a case by case basis at this time.

While I highly respect Nations University, I am surprised to hear that any RA school would accept unaccredited transfers. Not that the Nations education is inferior, it's just surprising that accrediting agencies would stand for this practice. Seems like they would be shooting themselves in the foot by doing this.

  9. IMHO, Nation's University looks like a an unaccredited diploma mill on the surface. It doesn't help that their Web of Trust rating is "unsatisfactory" with issues regarding "trustworthiness" and "vendor reliability". I think the whole operation would look bad to employers but if this is purely for self-enrichment, I can't see the harm.

Tomas Jefferson- How do they look like a mill on the surface? All of their courses were authored by people with RA degrees. There classes are great! I have taking classes with them that have been harder than any RA university that I have attended.

  11. I don't doubt your experience at all, if my memory serves me, there's been a lot of good stuff said about Nations here. They just don't look good on the surface. The web site looks like it is was created by some Somali "entrepreneurs" and it has a bad WOT rating. I think those are red flags for employers.

That's what I was wondering, so it's just the website? Well I have to agree with that. I know the lady who does all the work on it and she has no clue what she is doing...lol. She was kind of tossed into it. It's one of those things that as long as it can be functional, it will stay to save money.

Hey Guys, my post has been smashed hard by you people, and my actual query is still unanswered. Will Nation U get accreditation or not ?

They've applied for it. Many of us hope they'll get it, but whether they do remains to be seen. None of us is psychic.

I doubt that anybody except someone from the DETC itself really knows the answer to your question. We do know this weeks winning lottery numbers though, but we're not telling.

They have withdraw their app. with the DETC per the DETC's new news letter. It does not say their name any longer, by that I take it there out of the running.

  17. I imagine there's some worthwhile Christian accreditation that's out there for Nations?

Oh, I'm sorry if you feel like my typing is a reflection upon the school. It's clear I left a word out.
