    Dear Friends,

I have recently taken the Aleks trial course. I believe their is no paste option for the Aleks tests. Is this right? Any way around this if no paste option?

    Thank you,

I'm sorry, can you clarify what you mean?

If you mean paste answers into the problems so that you can -- er -- "work more quickly" Business Stats permitted this.

writing the answers could be a bit tricky with ALEKS I am sure there are programs out there that can help you write the answers much faster

if you spend a few minutes on aleks, you'll see why you can't work in a paste feature. For instance, if you wanted to enter "1 1/2" into their box, first click is the mixed number key, then the 1, then the numerator box, then the one, then the denominator box, then the two. Six moves. It's almost like...they might have considered ways to foil deception before they even launched the program? Hummm.

Since Aleks gets ACE credit they need to keep the integrity of there courses from being easy to cheat. If you mean to paste the problem into a document to print and study once you ask for an explanation you can print it out for further reference. I now have a home printed ALEKS Stats book that is about 4 inches thick. It took me for ever, but I did learn enough to finally get credit for the course.

    Dear Friends,

I in no way meant to insinuate cheating. I asked the Aleks Company and of course you can copy and paste questions to the Aleks calculator they provide.
I also thought you could copy problems but was obviously wrong hearing what the board members had to say.
If you could copy and paste with Aleks I do not believe it would be the end of the world here. I do not believe the integrity of ACE would be compromised.

    Thank you,

Whether it would be cheating would depend on what material you would copy and paste. If it is material that is allowed to be pasted under the ACE guidelines (I don't know what they are) then I don't think you could call it cheating either. If you were copying and pasting material in order to plagiarize then of course it would be cheating.

I did not mean to say that you were trying to cheat.

I personnaly like to know that when I say I took a course I know I worked for it and that it is not something others could blow off as "Degree mill stuff" I have worked very hard for my degree and I have already had remarks about it being a 'Look down nose "Online" sniff' degree. I evenhad the person next to me at graduation say "I thought about doing CLEP test, but I really wanted to learn something" these comments make me sensetive about the quality of what we do online.

I have done 3 ALEKS courses for 9 credits and I hate Aleks, but only because I had to work so hard for those credits. I know I would have worked just as hard to have earned them any other way, but not in the comfort of my own home on my schedule.
