Cool! Actually, I'm surprised that they knew. I mean some schools, like UoP you would know because of advertising, but I don't think the average HR guy knows about the Big 3 or certainly not the state U's offering online options. Curious.

You hit the nail on the head. With thousands of no name schools, HR mostly have to rely on "the big black book" to look up the validity of a school and ascertain whether it is recognized and accredited. Plus, I think as time goes on, online degrees are almost becoming hip, and viewed as progressive. Especially when top level management and execs are doing online degrees.

I noticed Cal Coast University was mentioned in the slide show (first page)

I'd be curious to see what jobs the people with the online degrees were hired for. I mean were they hiring admin assistants with an AA earned via distance, or where people with online degrees considered for strategic positions. It's all well and good to see people with online degrees being hired, but if it is for some deadened position this does nothing to advance the dl cause.

Another consideration would be - Is a degree required for the position or would the person have been hired without the degree based on experience?

Check out slide 10, and 19-23. They somewhat answer this question.
