First off, I'm finding this forum very educational. I'm trying to hone in on exactly what I want to do and believe I'm getting closer.

As I continue down this road of trying to decide how to further my education, I am once again looking for some suggestions.

I have a highly technical work (software training,troubleshooting,Q/A) and education background with a BS from U of Maryland. I want a Master's, but not sure I want to get a "focused" degree in either technology or business as I think I'm maxed out on my desire to further my academic education as far as technology goes, and I don't think an MBA will really help me fulfill any goals. I can't see taking advantage of that in the near future.

I guess first and foremost, I'm really just looking for a program that'll peak my interests. I'd like it to have some utility in moving forward in my work future, but its more about the bulletpoint and achievement than anything. What do I want to do?? I really don't know. I'm in my late 20s and am getting "bored" as I haven't been enrolled in a college course for nearly 4 years. I want to strive for something.

I want the school to be RA, be as inexpensive as possible, 36 credits or less, and something that wouldn't require a ton of writing. It can be challenging, but extensive writing is really not my thing. I'm also not in a huge hurry.

FHSU has a Master of Liberal Studies. I'm giving this some thought as I could still have a concentration related to my field, but it'll allow me to branch off and explore other subjects as well.

    Any thoughts guys? Thanks again.

It seems that you don't know what you're looking for neither Business, Management, nor Technical degrees. I assume you want to something for personal grow only? You said you have reached the highest level in Technology? Do you have CISSP? Well, I would recommend you Master in Technology Management if you don't want to go for business route. The Technology Management eventually leads you to become managing the technology and technical people. Georgetown University offers Master of Professional in Technology Management. So far, I am really happy with the program. Is not offered via distance learning; however, I assume you live in the Washington D.C metropolitan area. The program provides good networking too.

Also, if writing is not your favorite; then you have to find schools that offer courses through exams. SMU has Master of Science in Engineering Management; most of your grades based on your midterm (40%) and (60%) final. These schools are pricey!!! If written assignments and exams are not your favorite, I would recommend you not looking for another degree.

Its primarily for personal growth - but not totally. That's why I think the FHSU degree I mentioned would be a good idea... as I can have a concentration. However, I am open to suggestions. I'm not at the highest level of technology by any means, but in terms of academia, I don't think I'm ready to commit to studying technology for an entire degree program. If I'm going to go for more tech credentials, I think I'll go for certifications and only when I'm ready -- since they aren't lifetime.
