I would normally be the first to hate on anything related to Lady Gaga, or infusing popular culture into the sacred shrines of academia. However, it sounds like it could be a very good course, and I don't have a problem with having case study as a main component. I would, however, question why a single case study would be used rather than a more broad, comparative approach using many different types of celebrities and situations. The biggest flaw, as I see it, is that the recent rise of Lady Gaga precludes longitudinal study and may not be able to draw solid conclusions.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just saw this
This course is an embarrassment and simply should not exist.

It is difficult to believe that we have one of the lowest ranked educational systems in the US when one of our largest research institues is offering such stimulating courses...

Of course, it *is* the University of South Carolina. And they will be punished for it. For example by the Gators. On Saturday.

Not the first time this has happened...

    Hi

Only one course on Lady Gaga? Why is academia so dismissive? It appears there may have been a complete degree program on the late Elvis Presley, here: Who Wants A Bachelor Degree In 'Elvis'? - Elvis-TheKingsCourt

There was a thread on this forum dealing with unusual degrees a while back and I remember a full degree program on the Beatles...

Do you think there might be an MMJ someplace? (Master's in Michael Jackson Studies?)

*sings* Excelsior is not my college, its just a school that thinks that I'm an alumn... but the credits somehow come.

    Sadly, it's no spoof.
