Okay I have been rejected by London for their Bsc in Accounting, see this thread: http://www.degreeinfo.com/distance-learning-discussions/36117-frustrated-ands-looking-new-options.html

So now I am going ahead with an MBA in Finance from Aspen since it will be usefull in Europe, I have checked it with the dutch authorities and their answer was:

If it is on a list of recognised accrediting agencies from the US government we will accept it as well.

That is very good news, then they gave me a website where i could check the info out ( computer crash and gone are my bookmarks)

    So now my questions are:

Will this degree give me enough accounting hours to sit for the USA CPA exam?
I am not looking to move there or practice so I do not need to get licensed. Just want to have the piece of paper where it will say that I passd the exam. So I will take a nie holiday to Hawai and sit for the exam , as previously outlined in other posts ( cant find the post)

Anybody has any good reasons why I should not go ahead?

Still trying to find another program as affordable as this one!

Not sure about the CPA exam but I go to Aspen and dig it (as do many many others on these boards).

The best way to find out if the degree at Aspen will prepare you to sit for the CPA exam is to call Aspen and ask them. You might get 15 opinions from this board, but none could be as good as hearing it directly from the school

The answer to the question depends on the CPA licensing requirements in the State in which you hope to take the exam, even though it is the Uniform CPA Exam.

As of last year NA degrees did not qualify individuals to sit for the CPA exam in any state. I would not rely on any school to confirm that I could sit for the exam and agree with Dave Wagner that you must check with the state where you plan to take the exam.

Here is a good site to check on each state's requirements:

    http://www.becker.com/accounting/cpaexamreview/state/

According to Becker, you can sit the exam in CA with an NA degree. There may be others. Of course, I would check with the state board directly!

The last time I looked, accounting credits from nationally accredited schools are accepted in some states. There really is no reason why Aspen-earned credits should not be accepted in most states, so ask specifically for your State.

'm not familiar with any state where you can sit for the entire CPA exam all at once. All the states I am familiar with have four sections to the exam and each part is taken at a different time. That's a lot of trips to Hawaii. I live in Boston and travel to the Netherlands 3 or 4 times a year, those flights range between $590 - $850 round trip, I can only imagine what flights to Hawaii from Amsterdam must run. You might be better served to choose a state on the east coast of the US to save yourself some money.

I agree, this is better than the advice that I gave you. People at Aspen might know, and they might not. As Mary said, check with officials in your state.
