I wonder if it was pre-"TUI University" era.

    Gotta love the meaningless acronym.

It gets worse if you go to the website http://www.tuiu.edu.

The title bar says "TUI International Online University." If the acroynm still stood, it would literally read "Touro University International International Online University."

    Crazy.

I think "TUI University" is one of the worst college or university names EVER. When I first heard about this change I couldn't believe it (I felt the same way when Southern Christian University changed to Regions University then Amridge).

Yea if they are going to say it's a word now not an acronym, they should really start using lower case letters.

I agree, TUI as a name is extremely terrible, especially if you are walking around with a degree from there (I actually use "Tui University". The fact that folks would agree to name a university such a terrible name goes to show the types of people running the school. I don't know why they didn't name the school Touro International University, which understandably, TUI was an attempt to fix the original name (Touro University International) - a terrible one also.

TUI does not "stand" for anything. It is the name. TUI is latin for "YOUR" - Latin to English definition of tui
    http://www.tuiu.edu/alumni/AlumniNewsletter20080331.pdf - see page 3.

What is pre-TUI University era mean? The bio is listed as Touro University International so what is the quetion?

Touro University International was a branch campus of Touro College in NY - http://www.touro.edu/general/about.asp so the name makes/made sense to me.

I know it doesn't "stand" for anything. That's why it's incredibly stupid. They took something that was an acronym and purged it of meaning, substituting some barely believable Latin "meaning" to it. Although tui may mean something in Latin, if they are going for a Latin meaning, then they should not use all caps.

You wouldn't name a place VERITAS University.

The pre "TUI University" era is the era before Touro University International was bought out.

Touro University International made sense as a name. TUI University is just stupid.

They may have lost the rights to the name "Touro" when the current owners purchased the school.

That being said, they should have come up with a better name. Just about anything would be better than TUI University.
