I've been taking a calculus 2 course at a brick and mortar university, but it looks like I've blown it after failing the first few tests. I've been interested in taking a self paced online calculus 2 course (so i can start at the beginning of the semester and hopefully finish before January) Here's my research:

    University of Arkansas - $399
    LSU - $487.00 - self paced
    Portland State University - Oregon - $562 - 8 weeks minimum completion - 4 hour quarterly
Central Texas College - $200 - must wait until semester starts
    Ohio University - $564.00 - correspondence
    Kansas State - $984
    Pennsylvania State University - $740.00
    Indiana University - $788.24
SUNY Empire State College - $828
    Thomas Edison State College - $956.00 - 12-week semester
University of Alaska Fairbanks - $660.00 - 2 lessons per week, how many lessons?
    University of Arizona - $1632.00
university of colorado at colorado springs - $899.00
    Kansas State - $851.70 - self paced
    University of Kentucky - $1228.00
    University of Minnesota - $1500
    University of Missouri - $1228
University of Phoenix Online - ~$1000
University of Oklahoma - $1025.75 - self paced
University of North Dakota - $942.00
University of Tenessee - $836.00 - self paced
University of Utah - $830.00 - self paced
    University of Wisconsin - $1300.00
univeristy of Wyoming Outreach School - ~$560 - correspondance
    Distance Calculus @ Shorter University - $1300
    Rio Salado College - $645
    Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - $834.00

I'm in Texas, so it looks like LSU and University of Arkansas are my best options if I want to transfer courses and make it cheap.

Does anyone have experience with taking independent study courses at LSU or University of Arkansas? Were they quality courses?

I am taking Calc III with LSU right now. TBH, if you are having that much trouble in a B&M course, taking it via independent study probably isn't a good idea. LSU courses are fairly tough and you need to put time into them.

I have a full time job and I believe that makes self-paced a good option.

gettingthere has some other excellent options for online calculus:

Texas A&M - $602 for four semester hours credit
    Kansas University - $941.70
Oakton Community College - $455 + registration fees - must start course at beginning of a semester
University of Illinois - semester 3 semester hour class - $1,062
    Utah State University - 1126.94

Another option (not for me) would be studying hard and doing the credit by examination at ohio state: MATH 163B HS 8/96
