I just can’t seem to pick a school and stick with it. I started my online journey at FHSU. I really like Fort Hays a lot, but for some reason I’m always looking at other options. I first attempted to leave FHSU for Liberty. Right before classes started I changed my mind and remained at FHSU. Next up was Roger Williams University. I started with them this fall but dropped out the first week of class. I enrolled in a SEO class at UC Irvine to help pass the time. Now I’m all geared up to attend Troy in January. I hope I don’t jump ship before then. Does anybody else have this problem?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but school shopping is only going to slow down the process of you earning a degree.

The good news is, Troy is a good school. I'm not trying to discourage you, but you really should just PICK ONE!

    Why didn't you like FHSU?

If it was just for your undergrad, who cares if it's from a small, lesser known school?

I got into a top 50 national university(graduate school) with my degree from there.

I'll pick yours if you pick mine.

I like Fort Hays a lot and mentioned it in my first post. I think I have that attend a bigger school itch.

Nobody can blame you for wanting to get your degree from the best school possible. The problem is ascertaining which school is the best one. I have now bailed out on UoP, Walden, Capella and NCU, so maybe I need to be in that support group too. I'm sure I will stick with Liberty, though.

When I first started my collegiate adventure, I attended Lubbock Christian, then joined the army after 3 semesters. After my enlistment, I attended Tarleton St. for one semester, then San Antonio College for one semester before finally graduating from UT- San Antonio. I was a B&M student at all of those.

Grad school wasn't much better. I started a religious masters at Abilene Christian, then stopped when I reached the maximum number of online credits ATS would allow for a degree. I actually enrolled and paid for a year at SATS, before my funding dried up. I then started the History:Imperialism and Culture masters at Sheffield-Hallam, before dropping it to work on my MAT at West Alabama, which I finally completed. Those were all online or other DL courses.

I have considered several doctoral programs, but haven't ever really applied in earnest. I considered Texas Tech's dl PhD in English, but the focus on Technical Communication just didn't float my boat. I am considering (very seriously, to the point that I am about to take the GRE) applying to Texas A&M's PhD program in English. I hope that once I start that one, I will stick to the end. It is a B&M degree, no distance involved.

I'm also dealing with the whole AAS degree thing.

I've noticed that the same general educations classes keep popping up and I need to get those done to increase my options. I don't want to limit myself because of a handful of classes. I rather get them done and re-evaalute later.

I also live a couple of hours away from Troy and have always admired the school. I even visited the main campus in Troy, Alabama a few months back.

After reading this thread I don't feel quite so bad about myself.

But I hope no one does a search of my posts and threads. lol

To be fair to myself, some health issues have derailed me, but that's not a completely adequate reason for why I haven't done something by now.

So my wish for all of us is that we finally get to where we want to be -- if we can figure out where that is.

I can't believe I would recommend this to anyone, but the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa offers a number of BS degrees online. If I recall there is one in commerce/business administration, several in human environmental science and a handful of others. If you want a school with brand recognition, are in Alabama and any of their offerings fit your needs that is where I would recommend looking. That said, Troy is a fine school and would be a good choice if it fits your needs.

    I actually live in Tuscaloosa.

I'm a big fan of their athletic programs but never really wanted to attend. I've looked at their BA or BS in Interdisciplinary Studies (External Degree Program) in the past and even talked to an advisor about the program. I was told my technical credits would not be accepted and moved on.

With so many available online options from state schools, why does anyone bother with the traditional online-only schools? It really doesn't make much sense. Part of the reason y'all are switching is because you're looking for the best options, but half of you are doing work at the undergrad or masters level.. seems to me you're overcomplicating things.

Go with a UMass or URI or UConn or whatever and you won't be second guessing stuff.

Well, you need to find that school that fit your need. Then stick with it...if you are bouncing all over places. You won't be able to finish it, or it takes you longer. For example, for me...my first Master started with George Mason University, Southern Methodist University, Aspen University, George Washington University, and back to Southern Methodist University.

For my undergraduate degree, I started with Indiana University, Louisiana State University, then Troy University. After staying with Troy University, I was able to complete my degree in 24 months. I also have applied to Thomas Edison State College for credit banks.

I completed my Master degree with Southern Methodist University in 3 1/2 years; when I completed my undergraduate degree at Troy University only in 2 years. It is only one reason....bouncing all over places.

Right now, I chose Georgetown University for a second Master degree and Capella University for Ph.D. For Capella University, I can change my mind because I am still under the admission process. Once I am admitted to it, then I'll stick to it until I graduate.:eek:fftopic:

I'm not really on a timeline. I just want to get it done in the next 2-5 years.

My short-term goal is to bang out the general education classes I’m lacking.
