I have found two more masters degrees, one of which I was previously aware of, but they have made it totally online now, and a new one I had never heard of; they're both Roman Catholic schools. First is Loyola University of New Orleans, Master of Pastoral Studies, found here: Master of Pastoral Studies | Loyola Institute for Ministry | Loyola University New Orleans The other is the University of Dallas, Master of Theological Studies: University of Dallas - Online Masters Degree Thought these might be of interest to someone.
Is that a common degree offered at Catholic schools? I only ask because I know that Loyola is a Catholic university.
I've never heard of it before, but then again I don't know that much about Catholic seminary programs. I do wish though that there was some sort of established standard for non-MDiv degrees ... ex, the University of Dallas program is an MTS (36 credits non-thesis) while my degree is also an MTS (54 credits non-thesis) while other MTS degrees are somewhere in the middle but include a thesis, etc ...
This is true of many masters degree with the same title. For example I have seen MBAs requiring from 30 to 48 semester units including some with a thesis/project.
The Loyola Institute of Ministry program (at Loyola University New Orleans) is actually a long-time offering on campus and at diocesan extension centers throughout the country... that never seemed to be offered anywhere near where I was... that just recently went totally ONLINE! I've admired their program for quite some time and am VERY happy that I've waited to get involved in a program until the "right" one came along! Thus far they have been very responsive, responding very quickly to a request for information. WOOHOO!
