Northwest Nazarene University MA Spiritual Formation

I've taken another look at Northwest Nazarene University's MA in Spiritual Formation. I like this more than any other religion degree I've found. But the cost is really high -- $16,500 -- and I'm not sure what you could do with the degree.

I looked the word 'Spiritual Formation' up; it looks like more of a personally spiritual enlightenment term, geared towards self improvement. I like it :veryhappy:

I wish there was a degree like this, or in Christian Spirituality, in the US for $10,000 or under and totally DL, either online or print-based. I would jump into it. Don't know what it would prepare me to do, job-wise, but I'd do it on faith.

 

Spiritual Formation was a required course at the seminary I attended for both their MDiv and MTS programs, so in theory seminaries need teachers. As part of the class, we had to have a weekly meeting with a "spiritual director" who would counsel us in our spiritual development. It's not really counseling, because the focus isn't on what a person's problems are and trying to fix them (although those issues can arise of course) it's more about talking about a person's relationship with God. A quick web search reveals the "Spiritual Directors International"
