I've been enrolled in Excelsior for awhile. I've used their course search before with no problems.

In the past I would enter
    psychology
as a keyword and it would list distance exams and courses offered at various schools in the US and Canada, but now I get only Excelsior courses.
Samething when I enter 'computer' or 'programming' or 'english' or 'biology' as the keyword. I get only Excelsior courses and examinations.

Has Excelsior eliminated other schools from their course search ?

If they have, then that is going to really p*ss me off. I'm already upset at them for raising the price of their online courses from $700 to $1000, but this would ... well, it would motivate me to complete my degree there even faster because I can see its just not a place I want to give money to.

I get the same thing. Odd, because the page still says "Search the Excelsior College Catalog and courses offered by Excelsior Preferred Providers". I wonder if it's just broken.

They must have tech support you could call. I think they know that if they raise their prices and eliminate their friendly policy regarding transfer credits, they'd lose a lot of students. But I guess it's a possibility....

I had the same thing happen yesterday and I'm really ticked off.

Well, it doesn't look to me like they are changing their transfer policy, just their search function. They might put it back up soon after an update or something. Who knows? Certainly none of us, and yet so far none have asked the people who do know. For that, I volunteer... someone other than myself :nana:

I asked their webmaster today and he kept referring me to my advisor. It's not an advisor issue. The issue is that either the search is broken or they've changed it without notice. Even after I said that to the webmaster, he referred me to my advisor. Really aggravating!

Probably a procedural thing where certain issues are referred to the advisor regardless, and the advising staff opens a ticket for the tech issue.

Oddly, I never found anything I wanted to take via course search; instead, this forum and degreeforum hooked me up. Really obvious great course resources such as Colorado State never turned up in the search.

I did not know this search option ever existed. But today there are so many on-line courses available keeping track of them and maintaining the search site probably got too expensive for Excelsior to maintain.

I will say that the function had a lot of outdated information. Classes would be displayed as being available at other schools, who didn't offer them anymore or had changed course numbers, etc. Most of all, the prices listed were outdated. The search function would provide a class saying that it was ~$300 and the price had changed to $750, for example. They may be in the process of updating the database for other school's courses, or they may just do away with it and the students'll have to search the courses out on their own, and present them to their advisors to see if they'll fit what they're trying to do.
