I have been extremely busy lately studying for and working on my comprehensive examination. It took me seven long days; and I mean long in every sense of the word. I isolated myself from friends and family, locked myself away from life, and ended up producing 70 pages of written responses. I prayed and prayed and prayed. I stressed like I've never stressed before. Friday (October 22, 2010), I received word from my Department Chair that I've passed with flying colors. Friday was my birthday, and I received the best present I've ever received for my birthday. This is a big deal for me, because even though I spent so much time and emotional resources on my exam, I thought I failed. I really did. Anyway, I just wanted everyone to know about my good fortune and to share my joys with you. I hope you never give up on your educational pursuits because if I can do it, so can you! I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Now, the work begins.
WOW! You are creeping closer, nice job, you deserve a round of applause :arms: and a bit of hero worship :hail: :notworthy::You_Rock_Emoticon:
Thank you so very much for your kind words. I appreciate the well wishes and the encouragement. Phew! What a ride. The COMP is not easy by any stretch of the imagination but my British education has prepared me for all that writing because I completed it without too much stress. Anyway, to answer your question, I am not stopping now, no way! LOL. In fact, I am already well on the way with my dissertation research. I have already registered for my Dissertation I segment and I am pretty much ready to submit and defend my proposal. I've been working on it for about seven or more months. The only portions left to complete now are those that have restricted me (IRB approval) from completing. I am conducting a modified ethnographic investigation and so I will be requiredd to spend at least three months observing executives. I am excited about the research portion of it, but not looking forward to the final other areas that require completion.
Congrats! You are now officially "ABD", a huge step! It sounds like you are on your way to graduate!!
