I am a 52 year male, who is entering a different profession and to get a job where I want to, I have to have a Masters. They don't care what it is in, so I am looking for a program that I can do online, that is QUICK and doesn't cost a ton of money.

Any / all suggestions / ideas are appreciated.

    Thanks

A Masters in Professional Writing usually takes one year to complete. There are more qualified members who can do the cost comparison for you.

I only know of one: Professional Writing | Chatham University which can be completed in less than a year, provided you take the full time track.

I recently found out that Eastern New Mexico University has the least expensive Master's degrees of any I had heard of previously. They have an MBA, an M.Ed and a few others. They can be completed in one year and cost about $5400.00

Not sure if I would be qualified as being... qualified...:slaphappy: - but this Masters sounded really interesting to me, so I did the math (well, actually, my calculator did).

30 credits, $742 per credit plus fees of $18 per credit...

    That's $22,800!!

Sigh - I'm not going there, that's for sure...

If one had the time & wanted to take only 6 credits per semester, the cost would be the same for nonresidents as it is for residents: $180.50 per credit hour!

Now I haven't taken any classes there yet, but I'm enrolled in the undergraduate Communications Disorders program, and the my advisor is the Chair for the Department of Health & Human Services, and the Graduate Coordinator for the CDIS program, and the ASHA Program Director (Honestly, I actually don't know what that last one is. :silly:)

She's been super helpful to me, and has answered all my emails, which in itself is amazing. Can't wait to start!

If it doesn't matter what the degree is in, the University of Missouri offers an M.Ed. in Educational Technology that can be completed in a year. The website says the total cost of the program is $9,570 plus books.

    another program

Northeastern has some masters degrees that can be completed in one year. The cost is $524 per credit hour. It looks like the programs are 42 hours, so the cost is higher than I would want to pay.

Master of Science in Leadership (online and on-campus format)
Master of Science in Corporate and Organizational Communications (online)
Master of Science in Project Management (online format)
Master of Science in Technology Commercialization (online format)

    Appreciate the information. Still looking.....

$549 x 42 hours imo is not inexpensive though the 12 months certainly works.

Look forward to hearing more about what options there are out there.

    Thanks

Wow. How did I forget to mention Aspen University  Their tuition deal puts them at $3600.00 for a masters degree, but I'm not sure how long it takes to complete the program. http://aspen.edu

If you are really hardcore, you can finish a degree from NSU in two semesters for about $4500. This is because, the more credits you take, the less expensive each additional credit is.

    NSU | eNSU | Online Master's Degree

I want to correct my earlier post. You can finish a degree from ENMU in two years at the tuition of $5400, but if you want to finish in a year, not all of your tuition will be at the in-state rate (see threedogs post for more details). So, for ENMU, the more credits you take per semester, the more expensive it will be, which is the opposite situation of NSU.

They seem to be difficult courses!!! I am looking for a Masters that will be easy to complete as my new profession just says that they want a Masters degree. Couldn't care less what it is in or where it is from......

So it has to be cheap...really cheap. And it has to be easy...really easy. And you don't care what the subject area might be or the school or anything. You're not interested in actually learning anything, you just want to present the appearance of someone who has learned something.
I have no respect for this mindset. None.
Best of luck in all your endeavors.
