Dear Group - Heretofore I have considered pursuing a degree in systematic theology. I have a BA in philosophy, an MDiv and am currently working toward a ThM in Systematics...all from B & M schools. As I consider my future education I have decided two things. The first is that I am done with coursework. I have a family and pastor a growing church. I am not in a position, geographically or financially, to pursue a traditional PhD program. The second decision has to do with a new direction. I have decided to pursue my next degree in philosophical theology...not altogether surprising given my background and current vocation. What are some schools that are good for this sort of program? I am interested in combining the history of the development of logic with a study of the history of understanding/defending the doctrine of the Trinity. I know that is a pretty specific topic but that is, after all, what doctoral studies is. I was wondering the process of going about finding an adviser for my dissertation and the schools I ought to be looking at (given my area of study and my limited resources). Also, are there written resources on pursuing a research based PhD? I assume that many others have walked this path before in many subjects...has anyone written the "how to" manual? Thank you for your help. Blessings, Everett sDg
Hi Everett - Your area is not my area but this looks pretty much like what you're asking for: Unisa Online - Department of Philosophy and Systematic Theology
