    Dear Group -

Heretofore I have considered pursuing a degree in systematic theology. I have a BA in philosophy, an MDiv and am currently working toward a ThM in Systematics...all from B & M schools. As I consider my future education I have decided two things. The first is that I am done with coursework. I have a family and pastor a growing church. I am not in a position, geographically or financially, to pursue a traditional PhD program. The second decision has to do with a new direction. I have decided to pursue my next degree in philosophical theology...not altogether surprising given my background and current vocation.

What are some schools that are good for this sort of program? I am interested in combining the history of the development of logic with a study of the history of understanding/defending the doctrine of the Trinity. I know that is a pretty specific topic but that is, after all, what doctoral studies is.

I was wondering the process of going about finding an adviser for my dissertation and the schools I ought to be looking at (given my area of study and my limited resources). Also, are there written resources on pursuing a research based PhD? I assume that many others have walked this path before in many subjects...has anyone written the "how to" manual?

    Thank you for your help.

    Blessings,

    Everett

The University of Pretoria probably has what you're looking for.
