I am in need of some brisk algebra review. Have not touched the stuff in 10 years. Surprisingly, I still retain most of it, but could use a little boning up on varying applications of quadratic equation, some of the more advanced graphing analysis, etc... I need a book that will give me some decent review (probably up through Algebra 2).

I can only buy on a microfrugal budget. I'm a huge fan of the $.93 Amazon deals. But I don't want to buy crap. I've glanced through snippets of Schaums, REA, etc...

Anybody know for sure what the best refresher is?

    Thanks!

There are two algebra video courses here:
    Annenberg Media
These are used by CCs for their telecourse programs.

    I'd suggest the Idiot's Guide algebra/precalc books.

Demystified series has several books that might work for you. More problems to work on than Idiot's. Head First Algebra is also good, perhaps for someone starting more at the beginning than you seem to be. I'm using it right now, from the library -- can't get much more frugal.

    Khan Academy

I know it's not a book but given the intent of learning/brushup on the subject, it would be remiss not to mention Khan Academy Khan Academy They have a slew of instructional videos as well as example videos. I've gone through a few and been impressed with the presentation and the "a la carte" style. Just a thought.

Another thought, check with your local community college if you have one. I taught the subject a couple of semesters and still have quite a few instructor spec texts that they'd probably be willing to lend or give you if you ask.

    Punched the Order Button

The videos look great, but I simply don't have time to sit through the stuff I don't need. Thanks for all the input. I just ordered the Demystified Self Teaching Guide. Will try to post on here when I get through it.

    Thanks for all the help!

Here is an excellent resource: Pauls Online Math Notes

You'll find all you need here, through to diff eq. and linear algebra. Enjoy!
