  1. So, in another thread it was noted that the Dean of the Graduate School of Education at Aspen looks like he took his cheesy "professional" picture in his kitchen:

Tonight, I noticed this picture on Nova Southeastern's page for their PhD in Conflict Resolution:

It looks like the woman on the right is so bored by the lecture that she's yawning and considering stabbing herself in the face with her pen.

I've noticed a variety of weird and out of place pictures and graphics when researching degrees. Anyone else have any to share?

Haha....So I'm not the only one. I started a thread where I talked about how the DI logo (the guy in the black robe on the right) looked like an attacker in the night. But yes, I think the same thing. I also have seen pictures of the same students on more than one school’s site.

  3. Yeah, I see the same students over and over again too. They must be images licensed (or stolen) from a common image repository.

    What is DI?

I do believe the reference is to the top of this page, where the folks in caps and gowns are located. If I am not mistaken, "the guy on the right" is talking about the silhouette to the right right of "Degree Info" and "DI" means "Degree Info."

  5. Ah. He does kind of look like he's about to stab someone.

What I hate is when I go to a college or university website and they have stock photos of people as "students" rather than posting pictures of real students. There's always something a little off, that you can actually see, to tell the difference.

I also hate bad marketing campaigns via school websites (that also include stock photos). Just as an example, this one is from Baker College:

I can guarantee you that if I were, by some weird chance, looking for a HPCT program, I would probably never consider Baker College JUST BECAUSE of this image. Maybe I'm ignorant or vain, but it's annoying. It's a college, not a Sears catalog.

Of course it's photoshopped. Has to be, because of the nature of the photo, but could have been done better. Either way, each individual in the photo looks a bit off.

Starting on the left, we have the man with loose bowels, then we have the news reporter, then we have the "I eat too much candy and smoke too many cigars so I have black and gray teeth to go along with my white caterpillar eyebrows", and then we have "I have to take this photo but I really don't care", and finally Uncle "don't touch me there" Lester.

I hope, if any of us have gone to UF, that I didn't offend anyone, but I do notice these things, too. Heh. Perhaps it takes little to amuse me.

  8. She can do my hemodialysis anytime.

On second thought, if I needed hemodialysis, I would probably want some unattractive older woman.

LOL. Yes, UF tends to photoshop just about every image on their webpage. Even the ones with scenes of undergrad students around campus. They even offer free photshop classes to facutly and staff.

One of my friends in the MBA program was required to have her photo taken for the business school website. After it was posted, she noticed they photoshoped a mole off her cheek. It made her pretty self-conscious about her appearance.

Yes, it's pretty lame photo editing when you photoshop pictures together and you don't consider the lighting. Each face has slightly different lighting and it is therefore strikingly obvious that it is faked together.

The hair is also a dead giveaway.

Anyone remember the University of Wisconsin application cover photo debacle?

Here is the cover as published:

Here is the original. Notice the distinct lack of a photoshopped in African-American student head on the left hand side:

funnier when you interpret meaning from the gestures made by the students in the foreground.

I'll link this one just to be safe, but it's one I'm sure all of you have seen. It's an obvious photoshop...

Haha I petitioned a mod to remove it as being off topic...I thought it was just a thread about photoshops...I didn't see education photoshops...sorry...:D

Someone linked that one when it first came out and I honestly thought it was a real ad...I thought to myself...well it's a clever way to get someone's attention to see what it's all about....LOL

  19. If you're ever caught looking at something offensive on the internet by your wife, here's the trick that works every time:

    1) Calmly turn off the computer by holding the off button for a few seconds.
    2) Run like hell.
