I just got accepted to Liberty University’s Wilmington School of the Bible!
I do not truly want the truly want the Th. G. in Biblical Studies but I think it will be a great program and the credits are affordable and RA so I can use them anywhere that will take them. It’s only $94 a credit hour and if you’re any type of public servant or have been in the last 5 years its only $72 a credit hour.

I start January 17, 2010 so I will be done with my AS in CJ from Andrew Jackson by then. I will still press on with Clovis as well. Heck I will probably keep taking classes at AJU if I have time!

So they figure if you've worked for the government that you're in greater need of redemption? ;)

    But seriously, good luck!

That's probably true Steve! In the end my goal is a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with LU. But that's a long way off (if I don't change my mind!)

Random side note (for curiousity's sake) it says 51 cr from Wilmington transfer to a BA or BS. What BA/BS? The BS in Religion? And what would those credits count as- electives? Because they don't seem to fit in anywhere else, either...

(I have another random interest in Comparative Religions lol)

Then don't both looking at LU! The B.S. in "Religion" doesn't clarify that the "Religion" under consideration is Christianity, with only very basic study of world religions.

I talked to them today and they told me that if you pay attention to the classes you select you can transfer all 60 in a degree program. How many you can transfer depends on how many of the classes will fit and how many electives are open in that degree program you select.

With the Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies all 60 will fit.

Yeah I have certs in Buddhist and Far Eastern studies, and thought it would be a cool contrast to study Christianity in-depth, but not sure on the Evangelical slant...

Make sure you don't earn too many lower division credits (LU + Clovis + ???) on your road to your BS degree.

From what I've heard (never attended there) Liberty is conservative but not fundamentalist (in the pejorative sense) ... it's not like it's Bob Jones University or Pensacola Christian College or something.

I found this program awhile back, and would seriously like to do it, but the price for int'l students was pretty expensive (considering that it's only 4 courses for the cert):

University of New England (Australia) Graduate Certificate in World Religions
Info: Graduate Certificate in World Religions - UNE - Course and Unit Catalogue 2010
Plan of study: Course Import - UNE - Course and Unit Catalogue 2010

I'm not 100% sure that it's a distance program but UNE is known for being a premier Australian distance school ...

  15. Congrats and good luck!

LU looks great! (I looked into it before) They do have nice programs, but I often wondered how a Humanities, DA degree would fit into their educational program. If they had a Philosophy PhD, I would have went that route, but wasn't sure if it would have caused a conflict.

    Man-o-man!

I just told a friend about LU, and he said, "I was just reading my acceptance letter for their Ed.D."

    Isnt that something???

    This forum is great!!!!!!!

I told him to register here and tell his story.

You are correct that it's no BJU or PCC, but it's very close to fundamentalist in some aspects.

LU has relaxed many requirements over the past several years, but the school still has a strong fundamentalist heritage.

The online programs are pretty open but evangelical, though.

I would recommend against it, honestly. I come from an evangelical background (including pulpit ministry), so I am fairly comfortable with LU's stances in the counseling department, even if I don't agree with all of them.

I would, however, have a difficult time studying in the seminary at LU. I'm not as evangelical as I was in previous days, and the seminary and school of religion are unapologetically conservative and borderline fundamentalist.
