    Hi again,

Are there any programs like Heriot Watt that you can take before you finish your Bachelors?

I want to take some courses for fun, but I'd prefer them to be at the graduate level. I'm not entirely certain what I would like to study, but I guess any type of business, psychology, history, or religious studies would be fun.

    Thanks.

    brow276,

I see that you're still working on your bachelor's degree. I can't think of a better way to delay your graduation than by dividing your attention with another program. Most schools (UoP included, I believe) require you to notify them if you plan to pursue concurrent enrollment with another school, and strongly discourage you from doing so. Just keep your eyes on the prize, and in a few short months, you won't need to worry about whether or not a graduate program requires a bachelor's degree for entry or not. Also, if I were in your shoes, I'd take some time and narrow down exactly what I'd like to study at the graduate level. You have listed several fairly disparate subjects as potential fields of study, I'd do some more research and nail down exactly what interests me the most before I attempted to find a graduate program.

You'll get to graduate school soon enough. Don't sacrifice the bachelor's degree you've worked so hard for to get there a little bit quicker. Best of luck to you!

    Fortunato,

Thank you for your response. That does make a lot of sense. I'm just fairly impatient, which is good and bad.

Professionally, I know what I need to educate myself on. I'm looking to enter the Army's Chaplain Candidacy Program, so I'll need to knock out a M.Div. Once I've completed that and I'm active duty, I'm planning on attaining a MA in Professional Counseling. I'll probably do both at Liberty, but I might do the MA in professional counseling at Seton Hall. I'm not sure yet.

The M.Div will be paid for by the government, just like my undergraduate work, so I'll only have to finance the MA in Professional Counseling.

Anyway, there are my goals. I'd like to study business further, but I'll probably hammer a history degree if I'm still alive after those other programs. Thanks again!

You are so so close! Just keep up the good work! If anything I would look at bailing on U of P and moving your credit to a cheaper school. I'm sure you even have a few state schools in your area that are cheaper and have online programs. U of P is just so high!!!

It sounds like you are in the Army. Have you checked to see if UoP gives you credit for military service? Some schools do. Here for example is what CSUDH allows for military service:

    Credit for Military Service
A total of six semester units of lower division elective credit will be granted for one or more years of active military duty with an honorable discharge. A photostatic copy of military separation, DD 214, should be submitted to the Office of Admissions at the time of application for admission.
Source: CSUDH current catalog University Catalog 2009-2011 - Baccalaureate Degrees and Undergraduate Studies

It would not hurt to request credit from UoP - show them this excerpt from the CSUDH catalog.

    Hi Ian,

Actually, it was the Marine Corps. I was discharged a couple of years ago, and I've been working corrections, and going to school. The Army's Chaplaincy program seems like a good fit for me.

Not to worry, they've given me credit for my time in the Corps. I filled all of my elective credit, so I'm good to go.
