This may have been discussed before, but my quick search didn't show this specific question.

I am curious about how long the MDiv program at Nations Univ. has taken for most of those who have done it. I realize that it is self paced, but I am wondering what a realistic time frame is for completion. I suspect that I would be able to transfer in at least 18 hours, perhaps a few more.

I am not looking for a 'quick degree' just curious about what the time committement might be. I am seriously considering doing it, regardless, but wanted to know how long I will be committing myself for...

    thanks.

Why not try the M.Div at Liberty University? They're RA, and fairly low cost.

What do you intend on doing with a M.Div?

I imagine that the MDiv will take you at least three years of full time study, or whatever you would expect from another University. You might be able to move a little more quickly because you won't be waiting for terms to start.

I would recommend that you call the school and ask.

As always, NationsU comes with my highest recommendation, as I know the co-founders and their associates, and will attest that they have hearts of gold!

Because I don't need this for anything besides my own desires, for the most part. While Liberty is low cost, Nations is almost NO cost. I just can't hardly pass that up. If they receive the DETC accreditation, that makes it even better.

I don't expect to do much with the MDiv...Just wanted something else to hand on the wall.

I would knock the master out from Nations and then when I'm done move the credit over to the M.Div.

Well, I already have a Masters in English, and am working on another religous Masters (well, sort of - long story). I am not working on an MDiv, though...

I will look into it, though.

There's an idea. Are you currently studying at NationsU?

What can one do with a MDiv besides teach and preach?

    Masters Degree

If your like me and just do the work when you have some extra time, a few hours a week. It should take you close to a year and a half to finish.

I would guess that for some it would be simply self edification, for others to serve in some religious profession, for some to add that aspect to what they do and others to teach and preach. For instance, there are a couple of Christian psychiatrists who have taken additional faith training to add that to their understanding of their profession.

In fact, if I recall correctly Frank Minrith has an MD and a PhD in theology. But then he is in MENSA and some other organization for the brightest of the bright.

You just accurately described what MENSA isn't.

I wouldn't be doing this for a full time ministerial job. But, I enjoy the studies, and wouldn't mind having the paper for the wall after I finish the study.

I am not up for spending lots of money on this, as I can do the studies on my own, for the most part, but if I can do the same basic studies and still get a degree for the wall, then so much the better.

Understanding that Nations U will most likely be accredited in the near future just makes it better.

I contacted them about possible credit transfers. I have 18 grad hours from a Church of Christ university (Nations is loosely connected to the CoC), which I am sure will transfer to a MDiv. I also attended a CoC institution (not degree granting) and I am seeing if any of that will transfer, as well. I don't know if it will or not, but it never hurts to ask.

I will post here when I hear back from them.

Sorry I just saw your question, no I'm not working on it right now. I have one class left, waiting to see what happens with the whole DETC thing.

Do you mean that you are waiting to finish the last class when they are DETC accredited, when that happens?

    Yes.............

Are there ways in which that strategy could backfire? Curious.
