"Total Bachelor Degree tuition at the prepay rate is $12,000"
"This means total tuition for the Bachelor Degree at standard tuition is $30,000"

If you have the money up front that is still high at $12,000. AJU is only around $4,000 for bachelors. For an MBA the price up front is $3,600 which is great, but if you don't have the $3,600 it will cost you $8,100. AJU is only $2,000 on a payment plan for an MBA. Aspen is a little high.

Ab- how many proctored exams per a class does Apen have?

In the MBA they have 2 proctored exams in total. 8 modules per course. From 5-20 questions per module.

Wow that must be nice, AJU has two per a class, closed book, 80 multiple choice and three essay. They are pulled randomly from the text and do not reflect quizzes and class activities so to say. Now that is undergrad, I don't know about the MBA.

I try not to use the message boards to recruit or promote, so sometimes it is hard to draw a line or know the right side of things. However, I saw this thread concerning a new Aspen program, and am compelled to post one more item because of its personal meaning, and the fact that it is a program that was approved today along with the one mentioned above.

Three days before I started at Aspen my younger brother overdosed on some derivative of cocaine and pain killers (not the prescription kind) and died in the emergency room at Cape Coral hospital. He was 37. I had to identify the body, coordinate the funeral, and notify all my family members of his passing, working in the Cape which is a three hour drive from where I was living at the time (Plant City), while at the same time selling my house, packing to move to Denver, closing down my consulting company, AND I was teaching summer classes at Hillsboro Community College, where I had to be at 8AM Mondays and Wednesdays. Let's just say there was a lot going on, not much of it happy stuff.

The first thing I did at Aspen was start the process to get two new degree programs created and approved. They are a bachelors and masters in psychology of addiction and counseling. It was a 13-month process to create the programs, go through DETC review, and get them approved by the NAADAC. The NAADAC is the preeminent national authority in this space.

I received the letter today that the programs are approved. They are on our web site, and Aspen is listed on the NAADAC site.

If anyone has addiction in their family, close to them, or has considered this field, and a degree in this field will help them achieve their goals, please contact me. My goal is to make this program as affordable as possible and as widely available as necessary. If Aspen is able to help anyone in this field, one single person, I will consider my life's work complete.

    Sorry, bad math:

For the AJU MBA it is $285 per class, you can take UP TO three courses in a semester, and there is a $400 per semester fee. That means the LOWEST their degree could be would be: 12 classes x $285 = $3,420 PLUS 4 semesters x $400 = $1,600. $3,420 + $1,600 = $5,020 (or more if you go slower)

    $5,020 > $3,600 - Aspen

I figured in the discount they have going.

But even using the numbers you have at paying it out its

    $5,000 vs $8,000
    $2,000 vs $3,600

You only get the discounts if you pay up front on them.

    Dave,

Thanks for sharing and I am sorry fto hear of your loss. Regarding degree programs for the future, I am a big fan of 9-12 credit certificate programs. Are those in the works?

    I agree with Randall.

I might give the web development certificate a shot in the future.

    Dr. Dave,

My sincerest condolences on the loss of your brother, I'm sure he is watching over you. Congrats as well on the development, approval, and addition of the new degree programs! I consider myself lucky to become a part of your extended Aspen "Avalanche" family as I will be entering the Ed.D program on September first.

So sorry for your loss Dave... what a sad story.

I'm very happy to hear about the new programs - they sound really interesting and useful. If only there were more hours in the day...

Plus, the Sensei is a cool dude.

It was really nice to meet fellow classmates at the graduation Aspen had. There was an instant bond, and we all posed next to each other for our families. On grad day, I said to my mom "Oye mama, este es mi companera does clase Sunil". Then my mom excitedly tells my dad (hands rapidly flying through the air), "Oye Mike, este es el companero de Abner, Sunil!!!!". :)

It was fun! So Jack Russell and Sensi SJ, start saving your duckets for the graduation trip. Hit the ground corriendo!

    Abner :)

    Dr Lady,

Congrat's on your recent success with the MA in the Psych of Addictions and Counseling grad program! This is a monumental marker on your trail of grief... much more important than simply planting a tree in your brother's honor... for this is the gift that will keep on giving!

    Long live your brother's memory!
