    Hi

I am a non-tradional student going back to school. I am wanting to go to a school that has an online CS program. But, I would like to pay in-state tuition due to the lower cost.

Does anyone know of any colleges that have a good CS online program? Also, is there a way to check out the schools employment rates for the students finishing their programs?

I have finished an AA and taken some college courses as well in Psychology.

    Thanks
    Diana

    Hi Diana,

Welcome to DegreeInfo. Would you mind telling everyone which state you live in?

I live in North Central Iowa and am working towards a bachelor degree. Unfortunately the nearest public 4 yr college is about 90 minutes away. Which would make it very difficult to drive back and forth. This is why I am planning to work toward an online degree. I am also looking for a program that is within my budget that offers grants.

I finished an AA and ASB degree in a Medical Secretary program, so I am very familiar with computers. I also have desktop publishing skills and like designing and creating. I know there are many areas within a CS or CIS program. Right now trying to look at the general area and possibly branch off from there.

Many state colleges offer online degrees. I looked around the Iowa State University website and found several online degrees. Have you looked there to see if any would fit your needs?

Also there are fully accredited online schools that offer degrees almost as cheaply. TUI is probably the least expensive school. TUI International Online University, Accredited Online College Degrees, Distance Learning, Military Education Programs Also Excelsior might have something that meets your needs. https://www.excelsior.edu/

I have also been looking at colleges that also offer CS Degrees. So far I have come across WGU, Monanta State, and Baker College. I had checked with ISU but at the time I only saw that they offered a liberal art degree at the Bachelor level.

Many other colleges like North Dakota offer online degrees but not in CS.

    Thanks

Very good; there has got to be a number of schools that offer what you are looking for. I'm pretty sure that WGU at least is also reasonable.

Also, I just happened to be online when you made this most recent post so it got approved and showed up on the board pretty quickly. Diana,

Western Governors University doesn't offer Computer Science, Baker College's tuition is $195/ quarter credit or $292.50/semester credit. I don't see Montana State University offers any Computer Science degree.

So thanks to Tekman's great information, it looks like Baker might be a good choice at a reasonable price. It's regionally accredited, which is what you want to see.

Take at look at the University of Illinois-Springfield's online BS in CS. UIS should have brand name value in Iowa. UIS also has an MS in CS.

I just wanted to thank everyone for posting to my questions.

Of the different schools listed; do any of these schools offer a more comprehensive program than another school listed? Also, will having a degree from one of these schools hold more or less weight for employers over another school.

Will credits from other schools transfer similarly among these schools. Will credits earned at one of these schools transfer equally as one of the other schools listed.

    TUI
    Baker
    University of Columbia
    ect...
