It looks like I might be footing the bill for my next degree program, so I'm looking for some inexpensive options. I'm interesting in masters programs in psychology (general, clinical or educational). I am only looking for actual psychology programs, not liberal studies or interdisciplinary programs.

    Thanks,

Hi Tom - Are you playing a Fender bass? Rickenbacker? Ibanez?

Hi fellow Bellevue graduate :) Check out University of the Rockies, their Master of Art in Psychology tuition and fees are currently at $640 per credit hour. The program coursework is a total of 39 credits.

“University of the Rockies is a for-profit, independent Graduate School offering the Master of Arts in Psychology (MA) and the Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) degrees.”

“University of the Rockies is regionally accredited by The Higher Learning Commission, a commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools...”

“University of the Rockies is an associate member of the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology. “

Currently, I am playing an Ernie Ball Sterling fretless and a Dean 10-string bass.

10 string bass, is that like a bass and a guitar together? I play guitar mostly but have done some bass work on a few CD's. I have seen pics of a 10 string bass but I don't get the concept.

    It's a 5-string bass with octaves. It's strung B-octave, B, E-octave, E, A-octave, A, etc... Think of playing a 12-string guitar. It's the same concept.

Here's a pic: Amazon.com: Dean Edge Hammer 10-String Bass, Mahogany: Musical Instruments

Thanks for the information. At 300/credit, the 39-credit MA in Psychology will run $11,700. That is definitely a good price point. The MA in Experimental Psychology from New Mexico State University is less expensive, but APU/AMU is now in the running. Thanks!

Thanks. I've looked into U of R before, however, the tuition is just too high for me.

    Jim,

That's GREAT news! For some reason graduate Psych programs are usually on the more expensive end of the tuition scale...

You also might check on Ball State University... they offer a 30 semester hour MA in Educational Psychology...

Ball State University - Master of Arts in Educational Psychology

If you're an Indiana resident the tuition is $274 per unit... otherwise it's probably out of range at $464 per unit.

    Hi Bruce,

Ball State is on my short list, however, the tuition will be higher for me, as I'm not a resident of Indiana.

To me, the Ball State program looks more like a program for educators than for hard-core ed psych types... Ball State is a great school with an outstanding local (Indiana) reputation... I'm an Indiana resident and live semi-close (periodic weekend courses are possible) to the main campus... But the program at APUS/AMU looks much better to me. I am corresponding with their contact person and I will probably pursue the APUS/AMU program due to the more focused psych curriculum. They have thus far impressed me with prompt responses and detailed information. I'm hoping that their standard transfer policy applies to this program because I have a bunch of credits in ed psych that I hope to "sell" to them! (I am aware of the "bias" held by psych types towards ed psych... but I'm still going to attempt to make my case!)

    Best of luck japhy4529!

I heard back from Dr. Simon today at NMSU and for now, at least, they've put their MA in Experimental Psychology on hold due to what he termed as low enrollment, low amounts of suitable applicants, and the economic downturn.

Kinda annoying, that was #1 on my list. Guess APU's new program moves into it's place, unless I decide to go to a local b&m for my grad stuff. Sigh.
