Hello all, I have got confirmation on 2 colleges for online MBA Isenberg school of management(Umass -Amherst) and Texas A&M -commerce I need help on pros and cons for deciding on the colleges.Pls help with a final verdict of which one is a better option.
Welcome to DegreeInfo! If you want others to help you weigh pros/cons, it may be necessary to provide more details about your goals, finances and unique needs.
From a name recognition/prestige standpoint, I'd go with UMass-Amherst. A&M-Commerce is a branch campus, Amherst is the state flagship. Just my opinion.
Yes, ManicaCraniac is right, not much can be said with so little information. Both are great schools. The only criterion for deciding which one to attend is to find which program best fits with your goals. You will not go wrong with either school. It's your experience in the field, not the school you attended, that will be the biggest determining factor in what kind of job you can get. If you are already working in the field you intend to pursue, then you are in good shape.
OK, since I haven't said anything REALLY stupid today I'll give a clear and firm answer to the op's question... If you're going to live east of the Mississippi then choose UMass. West - choose Texas. Without knowing anything about you, your situation, your goals and how these might fit in (or not fit in) to these programs, how can anyone give advice?
I would go with UMass - Amherst 'cause Texas A&M Commerce is a different is separated from Texas A&M College Station.
It sounds like the Marine Corps bootcamp, if you live east of the Mississippi river, then go to Parris Island. If you live west of the Mississippi river, then go to San Diego.
I'm in the same boat. Texas A&M or UMASS-Amherst? I live in CA & since I don't have a business background & have to complete foundation courses so cost is the same. What makes UMASS-Amherst so much more appealing than Texas A&M? After reading the previous threads...so...would a Texas A&M degree be more appealing than UMASS? I currently work in healthcare. I'm not looking to become a high powered CEO or anything, just want an MBA to perhaps move in the company in the future. BTW-does anyone know of an online student support group for UMASS-Amherst (Yahoo groups/google/Facebook)? (i.e. buy/sell books, syllabuses from previous courses, etc.) Texas A&M has one, which I noticed could be very useful when trading around books and getting a feel for the class prior to enrolling. Ideas? Thanks!
