First off, I have seen some discussion on this in previous threads but I didn't find what I was looking for, so I decided to ask! hehe.

I will graduate very soon with my BSc in Health Sciences. Which focus on the management side of health care.I also have a AS in Nuclear Medicine but that's not to important now lol. I'm definitely staying in the the health care sector first of all and have no intention of leaving it. My goal is to eventually hold a advance position, and one day a C-level position :D in a hospital or related environment. Now, correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't a MHA be my best bet to achieve this? on top of that would it be worth it to get the dual MBA/MHA? Any advice would be helpful.Maybe a MHA isnt my best bet? What about the others Ive seen MHA MBA MPA MPH theres so many lol. what would be the best? And maybe if i could have any combination what two?

    Thank you!

I have been looking at these myself for the last several months. I have also talked with some that have their MBA/HA specialization and some that have their MHA. Those with the MHA are department or division managers and the MBA/HA specialization are just area managers that report to the MHA manager. I think it depends on the area you want to work in. I truly believe the MHA is better recognized in healthcare management especially if the programs are AUPHA or ACHE accredited. An MPH is mainly for those that want to work in public health service. It focuses on public health issues and I haven't found any positions in our local hospitals or BC/BS filled with anyone with an MPH degree. The head of our health dept. is an MD with an MPH. I was going to do an MBA with a HA specialization, but the focus was more business classes and less on healthcare specific classes. I prefer to focus more on healthcare classes since that is my area of specialization. I will enjoy those more than accounting or general business classes, so that is why I have chosed the MHA, also when I searched jobs I would like to do, that was the most requested degree. I think that if you research the jobs you to do, you will find the best degree choice. Good luck!
