Hello all, If anyone saw my first post Iam shipping to Army basic training November 3, 2010. If you have 48 credits you join as an E-3 as of now I have 18 community college credits so Iam looking to clep 30 credits.

    1) My first question is there some type of "universal" transcript; my college only accepts clep and not all of them, for example A&I literature from what I read very easy 3 credits, my school doesn't accept it, what are my options.

    2) I'll list the tests Iam considering taking, any tips on study materials? Instacert sounds very good but I don't really have access to a computer; typing this from my cell phone. Iam thinking of getting the rea books from the library.
These should all add up to 32 Clep credits: biology(8),humanities(6),human growth and development(3),Educational psych(3),western civ.1&2(6),business law(3),*American gov't or American Lit.(3) any tips greatly appreciated

    Thanks, John

What you would want is a "credit bank", I'd suggest using TESC for that as you can then add a bunch of FEMA credits for no extra charge quickly as well.

If you can get into the Army at a higher level it's worth any amount of effort. You might look into Thomas Edison State College, I understand that they are very favorable to CLEP units.

Great idea! Frederick Community College or TESC will grant college credit for completing the FEMA courses.

I don't know if they are still doing this but my nephew got a stripe for his Eagle Scout. When I went through Basic years ago, there was a soldier that got accepted to West Point Military Academy straight from Basic training. Now that's a million dollar education forced down your throat a nickel at a time.

Military Personnel get a huge break on the cost of a credit bank at TESC. It's only $250 for the bank:

Good luck in your military and education endeavors!

Thanks everyone for the replies a credit bank is exactly what Iam looking for.

So one more question I fill out the form for TESC and open a credit bank then I have my community college foward my transcript to TESC, If I take every FEMA test offering credit how many credits can I earn? And how do I send my FEMA scores to TESC ?

    Thanks again, John

I thought I posted a reply but guess not. Thanks everyone for the help a credit bank is exactly what I am looking for. Just a few quick questions,

If the army requests a transcript from TESC will there be any problem; does a credit bank show up as a regular transcript?

So I send the form and check to TESC wait for the account to be opened, and then once I complete all the needed FEMA credits, I request they send my scores to TESC?(Is there a fee for this from FEMA or TESC?) Is this the correct process?

Thank you all for you help, John
