I am going to work on my AS in liberal studies from EC. Anyone here have any info of how the credit hours break down? I was on EC’s site and it was pretty vague about it.

How about COSC? They are pretty clear.

English with Essay is no longer accepted by EC (it was when I earned my BS).

For clarity on degree requirements go to their publications page (you may have to obtain a password and user word which is easy), download the School of Liberal arts Catalog, and look for the AS requirements Chart 2 on page 20 (of course you need to read all the requirements for the AS).

CLEP and DSST exams will provide a lot of the required courses and there are many other colleges that provide low cost courses. Ask here if you need any suggestions.

the nice thing about the EC AS degree is that it allows up to 29 semester units of electives including professional courses (such as business, criminal justice, engineering, and education)

    Good luck with your AS.

Thanks for that, for some reason I could not find it. Any reason you took the AA over the AS MC?

Thanks for your info Ian about Eng Comp.

There is no effectual difference between the two. The AS in LS is more flexible than the AA in LA as far as depth requirements, but mean about the same thing in the job market- a very general 2-year degree. My degree plan allowed me to chose which one I wanted, so I chose the the Associate in Arts In Liberal Arts simply because I think it sounds better :D I have the same option for my Bachelors, of Arts or Science; Arts fits my personality better, so Arts it is :D

EDIT: Let me add that if you have 15 credits in a single discipline, you can have an "Area of Focus" added on your transcript. My degree is pretty funny in that I am just 1 or 2 classes away from an Area of Focus in a few different disciplines.

Yes. Much of which I will never get college credit for.
