I have a question for my little brother...

If he took some online science courses at Excelsior or Rio Salado would it be possible to transfer them to a B&M community college and have it appear that he took them at a B&M on the transcript from the B&M?

He's considering medical professions but is working full time and would like to get a few science prereqs out of the way online and then finish them at a B&M but it would have to and appear on the transcripts as though he took them at the B&M.

Not sure how the machanics of CC transfer credits work... Any advice is appreciated.

As long as they don't have a lab.

Usually there would be something on the transcript that shows that it was a transferred course, although each school has a different policy on this, so I couldn't give you a 100% answer to your question. Mine actually lists the names of the schools from which the credits came.

Although I am a big fan of Excelsior their course fees are high compared to many other options (e.g. Clovis and LSU). If you list what courses you need I'm sure you will get responses.

I concur with what MC said. My transcripts all show where transfer credit was earned.

Some colleges may not accept some courses in transfer (such as phys. ed. or professional courses).

I would seriously take a look at doing online science courses at Clovis Community College. There courses do count as a science course and lab. You complete courses that do have lab components to them such as Biology.

The cost of the courses is really reasonable and if you were to need a lab component with them they would at least count. I do know of many community colleges that will accept science courses for transfer even if they don't consist of a lab component to them. But, many colleges and universities will require a lab to them so it depends which college or university they want to transfer to.

It would be best to contact the college or university their interested in attending and to get an answer directly that way.

If I read what you wrote correctly your asking if his transcripts will show if he took the class online correct?

The answer should be no. Most colleges do not put anything on your transcript that will show that he took the classes online instead of in a traditional class. So once he transfers he classes from the old CC to the new it will say transferred but not that he took them online.

Thanks. Wow. Clovis is crazy cheap...

The classes need to be for science majors I think so only Human Bio and Anatomy would work from there.

Anyone know where there's online Bio I and II, Chem I and II and Physics I and II with lab?

I've seen excelsior, rio salado, ccconline but that's about it...
