Submitted my updated Dissertation Manuscript to the committee - feels odd...

Okay, this may sound odd. I made all of the changes my committee requested to my dissertation manuscript. I had them done yesterday morning but stared at it off and on all day before submitting it. I kept thinking, “this is really it; I could be done”. I know there will be requests for changes by the school as it goes through the final review but I felt this sense of relief and accomplishment but is was quickly replaced by a sense of emptiness and a what-now feeling. I am almost afraid to be done after almost 6 years!

I can quickly fill my time with other things to do (I have a long list) but I think I am going through a mourning process. What’s up with that?

It's a classic, textbook case, my friend. You are a graduate work addict. You will be OK for a couple days and then you will start to shake and sweat. There are good programs I can recommend to help you dry out.

The greatest cure, and let me be the first one to say it, is the words...Congratulations, Dr. Randell!

Now the Dr stuff is a little premature but I love how it looks. :D

Maybe premature, but it's almost here. Man! When I grow up I want to be just like you!

I hear you - what you are going through is normal! Kick back and relax since it's out of your hands now!

I hope the changes they want are minimal. Do you still have to defend, or did you do that already? But yeah, ever since graduating a couple of months ago I've been sort of in a what-now phase. Still not sure. No more degrees though. (maybe a course here there though)

Aw, go out and celebrate! You deserve it. And don't worry - life will catch up with you soon enough with many other demands on your time. *eep*

    Seriously, congratulations! :D

Awww, there there buddy. Who knows? If you're lucky, they will tear your dissertation to shreds and you can start it all over again!

If you are truly done with school however, I suggest you pick up a language. It is both challenging and rewarding in equal proportions.

I will save my congratulations for when your defense is a success, but I can feel it coming on soon.

I have not defended. It still needs to be approved by the committee (I hope they accept their own recommendations!), approved by the school, then the defense. It is not actually called a defense anymore, it is a "celebration" or somethingf like that.

I am only 5 classes away from my MBA in Marketing so I am doing that in between dissertation revisions. I should be done with it in Feb 2011.

Seriously, I get $5K per year in tuition assistance and it would kill me to leave that on the table. If I did not get it, I certainly would not be doing this all out of pocket or with loans.

It is: Examining the Relationship between the Frequency of Communication and Remote Employee Communication Satisfaction. A real nail-biting, on the edge of your seat topic ;)
