Somebody pointed out that some literature courses may count as humanities. I tried to follow up but the thread died. I have an AP literature class and straighterline offers English Composition. Are they different enough that they won't duplicate? Also, is there a possibility that I can apply the AP lit class as a humanity and take English through straighterline for my English requirements?

    Thanks!

Not sure on who would take what but I am sure that most schools consider English Comp classes and Literature classes different enough so that you would get credit for both.

I agree Comp and Lit classes are usually quite different and have dissimilar course numbers at the schools I have attended. I don't think you will have a problem. However, why ask us? You should ask your school and be assured. Here you will get opinion; there you will get a real answer.

I am waiting to here if Clovis will take the Clep Analyzing Lit as my two English comp classes. My advisor said they probably would because I am in a general studies degree plan. Clovis seems to be very flexible; they are taking all my accounting classes as my math. So there is some hope for you.

Both are humanities, they won't duplicate. Also, an AP class doesn't merit credit, you need to take and pass the exam with 3 or better. Depends on where you go as to the exact alpha-numeric you'll get and how many credits.

a score of >3 on the lit exam at TESC will award you 6 credits. You'd need to know the course number in order to determine if it duplicates any of the other 3 lit exams, normally I keep a list but I don't recall the AP Lit numbers off the top of my head. English comp should come in as ENG101. Nearly every school wants 6 credits of composition, so you'll still need 102 at some point.

Cook: I passed with a 4, so I should be OK.

Oliver: I don't know what school I'm going to, and my primary guess (TESC) has not emailed me back, ever, in the four to five attempts I've made in the course of a year to get data about this or that. Their legendary awful costumer service has proven true in my experience. Hopefully it will get a bit better if I actually become a costumer someday.

OK. So it looks like my chances are not too bad. Basically my current plan is to exhaust straighterline as a resource before moving on. I'm finding that with a few days off work dedicated exclusively to straighterline that two courses or more should be possible in the course of one billing cycle.

Thank you so much for the clarifications everybody! I think that's what I needed to know :)
