I can only speak to Amberton. The course work was pretty standard for DL graduate courses. The courses that I took were: Research Methods, Ethics, Managerial Communication, and Crisis Management. The most difficult was the Research course, and by difficult it was lots of busy work (which is to be expected). The rest of the courses were fairly standard with small papers due throughout the term (5-7 pages) and a final paper (10-15 pages). As far as testing goes, most of them were done online and they were timed.

Customer service is good, technology is way behind (I think that is how they keep their costs down), and the course work was middle of the road.

BTW: Here is the link to all of the course syllabi for Amberton's DL offerings.

ETA: I took courses from Amberton in 2005/2006, so as usual YMMV.

I received a Bachelor of General Studies from FHSU in 2006 and my Master of Liberal Studies (Human Resource Management) in 2009. Details vary with some courses requiring proctored exams and some not. Most of my exams were of the online, timed variety. There were courses that required no exams but were very writing intensive. As with 03310151's description of Amberton, so FHSU's course-work characteristics vary considerably. FHSU uses the Blackboard learning management system which I found adequate. I will also provide a syllabus link so that you may review past syllabi but remember these are historic or generic...the actual, current syllabi may vary considerably:

    Fort Hays State University

I hope this has been of some assistance. If you have further questions, please feel free to ask.

I attended FHSU for five semesters. Most classes gave 10-20 question chapter quizzes, followed by a test after ever 3-4 chapters (usually 60-90 minutes timed). A few classes required one discussion board post and a response to two other peoples post. I took two history classes and they both gave essay exams. Over half of my classes required a book review or two (5-6 pages). None of my classes required a proctor.

I plan on going back to FHSU to complete a few certificates in the future.

    What classes are you concidering?

I am finishing my undergrad at FHSU and can only echo what has been said already. I have only had three poor instructors, the rest were quite good. The quality of education is quite good, I have had no issues and felt well prepared for the CCNA.

My only real gripe about FHSU is that I took the vast majority of my major courses in the first two years due to Seniors having first grab at courses at GenEd courses not being available. I feel that my education would have been even better had there been a bit of a mix with the majority of my major's courses towards the middle and end of the degree, rather than the other way around.

I have no regrets at FHSU... if you have specific questions, post or feel free to pm :)

I was looking at the MLS - Human Resource Management or Public Administration. I am just collecting information at this point.

Although I recently jumped ship, I like Fort Hays a lot and highly recommend them

My decision to leave was based on numbers of credits left to graduate (30 vs 39).

3 classes is a big deal, at least to me! I would have to bail as well.

The type of classes played a major role in me transferring. My degree plan at RWU is made up of mostly industrial related classes, which will benefit me more because I have an industrial job.
