    Other than being two of the most awesome words ever, psycholinguistics and sociolinguistics combine my passions for languages and people. Finding courses in these would also allow me to take linguistics courses that would still count toward my majors.

    I'm looking for undergraduate courses. Are there any that you are aware of?

    I haven't found specific undergraduate courses in either of these topics. However, perhaps at some point you would be interested in the offerings from the University of Essex. U of E offers a DL PhD by Supervised Research in the following areas:

    * PhD in Applied Linguistics
    * PhD in English Language Teaching
    * PhD in Linguistics
    * PhD in Psycholinguistics and Neurolinguistics
    * PhD in Sociolinguistics

    LOL, thanks, but there is no way that I am ever going for a doctorate. A Master's, maybe, and I like the MA in Applied Linguistics from UMass Boston and the MA in Linguistics from UNISA is an unbeatable deal for the price and academics, but I am more likely to wait and see if one day any state school offers a DL linguistics masters at about half the cost of UMass. For now, I would just love if there were undergrad courses somewhere, anywhere!!! Hey, here is a thought, is there a DL Bachelor's in Linguistics somewhere? I asked the question months ago and the DI community found me no USA degrees. If one does exist, they would likely have the psych/sociolinguistics courses I desire.

    I understand (I'm not so sure about it myself). But you have to admit, it does sound pretty cool, huh? Not many universities would offer a PhD in Psycho/Neurolinguistics via distance learning!

    Anyway, I agree - the UNISA graduate programs are a steal!

    A while back, I was looking for same thing - a DL Bachelors in Linguistics. I was unable to find any such program in the states. Anthropology, yes. Linguistics, nada.

    Found One!

    Tarleton State offers a psycholinguistics course via DL. Unfortunately, you just missed the registration period by a couple of weeks (apparently, they only offer this course during the Summer term). Perhaps you could take this course next Summer.

    Just an FYI - they also offer a graduate level course in advanced psycholinguistics, also available via DL.

    Well, if that isn't the most awesome thing ever... then it must be you. :) I doubt I would do it, but oh yes, I am tempted.

    Hi,
    I'm writing my MA thesis on psycholinguistics (subjects' reaction time depended on language proficiency level). I'm going to check the reaction time on visual material. Does anybody know any programme that could measure the precise reaction time (even in miliseconds)? The subjects' responses are recorded on a camera. I would be grateful for any ideas:)

    Carolyn, welcome to the board. If you don't get the responses you are looking for, you may want to start a new thread with your question as the title.
