I'm looking into an undergraduate program at Union Institute & University and I was wondering if anybody knew anything about this school?

Accreditation is from North Central Association, which I believe is RA.

I would say tution is a bit high (At around 450/Hr).

I agree that the cost is a bit high. There are a few schools that offer military discounts and one is TUI University.

There are a ton of low-cost alternatives. I'd only select Union if the degree program fit my particular needs in terms of prior credit, degree desired, instructional delivery methods, residencies (if any), etc.

Yes, Excelsior or NCU would do the same job at a lower price. If you have a lot of transfer credit, Charter Oak might be interesting.

AND, thank you so much for fighting for our country.

I've been "this" close to doing their lactation masters. Their customer service was great, I had a few questions, very helpful. But, that's all I can contribute.

Now there's a field that I didn't know existed and one that I hope I never know any more about. :)

First off, thank you for your service.

Are you still in the military or are you a civilian? I assume you plan to use Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits.

I know that you are looking at several options, but if you narrow it down for us, we can help steer you to some other options.

    Best of luck

I am currently out of the military as of Jan. 2008. I have been looking into several online colleges that offer an undergraduate degree in Public Administration. Most PA programs are offered at the Master's level, and finding a regionally accredited undergraduate program has been difficult.

    My research criteria is simple:

    1. Graduation Rate
    2. Retention Rate
    3. Tuition Rates

I have never attended college online, so this will be a new undertaking for me (Fingers Crossed) and my plan was to begin in Jan. 2011 because I will complete my AA Degree in December 2010 at my local community college.

    Other RA PA Programs

National Univ has an undergrad program in Public Admin:

    National Univ

There are also tons of schools that offer Political Science, including a number of well-known "bricks and mortar" schools like Arizona State and Northeastern.

Public Administration and Political Science aren't the same major are they? If that's the case, I may have to reconsider my second choice in major which was Emergency Services Management but I figured Public Administration was more versatile and broader in scope.

As a National University alumni, I can vouch for their quality and their rigor. They are regionally accredited even though their name sounds like national accreditation. (A poor choice of names, in my opinion.) National University is a good, RA school and I'm glad I attended.

Union no good for Ph.Ds, good for undergrad cops

As far as I know, Union is still accredited to offer undergraduate degrees. Police officers like their undergraduate programs in criminology, and as a former soldier, you may be interested int that field. They are not accredited to offer Ph.Ds. They lie on their website. Union Ph.D. learners are now being soaked by private loan companies, because they cannot get federal loans and haven't been able to since 2004 when they lost their accreditation to offer Ph.Ds.
