What is it with all the DL degrees are worthless comments?

I keep reading people post and reply about how DL degrees are worthless and I am curious why people say this? My understanding is that unless you attend a school known primarily for its online programs there will be no issue am I incorrect?

A mild attempt to drag this thread back on-topic:

Periodically there are posts questioning whether online (distance learning, not exactly the same thing) degrees are as valuable as butt in classroom B&M degrees. This is a legitimate question and even though it has been answered a countless number of times we know that as newbies appear this question will continue to arise.

Some people will say that DL degrees are worhtless but they rarely have a compelling argument. On those rare occasions when a real argument is presented it is typically defeated with just a small effort. It's a good thing to read everything and believe less than half. There are many, many people who are quite pleased with their legitimate, DL degrees. Our board is full of their posts

 

He's my brother from another mother. Actually MC and I have never met in person, but I think we both agree that sometimes a very small number of people on this board take themselves too seriously. I'm sure we could all name one or two. I, at least, am not here to try to prove my superior intellect to anyone (if that were possible) or to win arguments. I just want to enjoy you fine people, learn from you and occasionally laugh together. I hope my stupid jokes don't get annoying. I know I enjoy dumb jokes, it's sort of a family tradition around my house.
