Anyone know of an inexpensive (by this I mean less than 500 per credit because that is what he is paying now ) online program for a BS in Network Management? Long story short somehow the financial aid allowed him to use up the whole 57,000 that he could use for students loans before he even finished his degree at Devry. Instead of dividing his financial aid by the terms he was going to be enrolled they did something else and now he can not take anymore out in loans and has 2 semesters left before he gets his Bachelors degree in Network management. Oh and Yes he should have known something was up when he was getting all that money back each Semester! In any case he needs to finish up his degree and has to pay out of pocket.. Any help???
I'm not sure if this will help but TESC has this Thomas Edison State College | BA in Computer Science Credit Distribution, he could enroll get his AS and clep or take some cheap classes somewhere else and get a BS from a state college.
I think he already has his AS or at least the credits for it, he apparently went through Devry for that as well.
So your friend has an outstanding loan of $57K and no degree yet? That is very sad. For that amount he could have acquired a BS degree and a couple of masters degrees.
I assume "network management" is of the IT variety and not some other network type, correct? It sounds like he needs to find a job (or a second) in order to afford school. If in technology, maybe he can get a job in his field, one which will provide tuition reimbursement? What's his current employment status? How many years of experience does he have? $57,000. I am sure there are a lot of people in that same boat. I am pretty sure I will have a BS (B&M), MBA, MScIA, and DSc for that money; especially if I subtract the tuition reimbursement which was paid in for my benefit. It's sad. I assume he is younger (I am 31) ... I wish I could have had a chat with him before he started at DeVry. : (
You are correct and I agree with you. Apparently he went through Devry to get his lower division credits as well so it did not take very long to rack that up.
He is working in IT right now but I do not believe his employer is large enough (or in the position) to offer him reimbursement. I think he has a couple of years (3 or less) experience. I think he needs to get a second job as well but his wife just had their 2nd baby so I am not sure that will happen. I was shocked to learn about the 57,000 as well but now it is to the point where I am just trying to help him finish what he started.
Two more semesters, so how many credits? If 30 credits, then transfer to Western Governors University's BS in Information Technology with Networking Design & Management.
