Hi there, I recently graduated with a BASc degree from a University in Toronto, Canada. I am considering University of London LLB, Route B, I believe, the 2 year program. I was wondering if anyone knows what the process would be after graduating from this University in order to practise law in Canada? Also, is everything about this University legit and when should I apply? I emailed the University and they responded by saying that I can apply anytime during the year, if I apply now, when will I find out if I get accepted or not? My plan is to start this fall and write my exams in May/June since I've heard thats the only time during the year that exams take place at this university? Hope someone can help me out! Thanks, KJ
You may want to check the law society of your country if the OUL External Law degree confer the status of a Qualified Person status for you to practice law in the country before enrolling.
I believe acceptance to the UoL external LLB is automatic for those satisfying the minimum admission criteria, and an undergraduate degree from a Canadian University is fine. Check out the following threads which you will probably find informative: http://forums.degreeinfo.com/distance-learning-discussions/24709-does-u-london-llb-program-qualify-graduates-canadian-bar-exam.html http://forums.degreeinfo.com/distance-learning-discussions/32151-using-english-llb-become-lawyer-canada.html If you dig a bit deeper you will certainly find other threads concerning the UoL LLB. As far as completing the LLB in 2 years, my 2 cents is that personally I would not try it unless I didn't have a lot of other commitments. The program is demanding.
