Ok. So I need to apply to some schools soon, I've already been accepted into a brick and mortar school for August but would rather have the flexibility of DL.

I'm looking for a PhD preferably but am open to other doctorates. Business related. Leadership, marketing, org behavior, public admin., etc...

    Cheap; so under 35k-ish

Regionally accredited; can't budge on this one.

    Four year duration or less.

I can handle some residency requirements. No big deal.

Yes I've read the sticky about phd's.

Easy: My thoughts on easy. I've noticed that some schools require (for example) 45 credits of course work and 15 credits for dissertation.(60credits) While other schools require 30 hours of coursework and give you 30 credits for dissertation. Now, easy is relative, but in this example if you have to do a dissertation either way, I'd rather only do 30 hours of coursework as opposed to 45. Giving myself more time to concentrate on a better dissertation.

I wanted to put cheap and easy in the title since that's what everyone's been talking about lately but I refrained.:D

So far I've got North Central phd bus admin. RA, $32K
Bowling Green State phd in rhetoric, RA, $22K
    TUI phd bus. admin. $25,300+dissertation=$35?
Indiana State RA $30k what programs?
Valdosa State one of the programs is not RA?

    Any help?
    Thanks

This question has been asked and answered many times. I suggest that you put those research skills to the test and read through the archives.

For RA, Valdosa State University is the cheapest one, and Northcentral University is 2...however, If you are Texan, then check out Texas Tech.

If I'm not mistaken Anderson University offers a DBA that will run you in the low/mid $20k range and can be completed in 4 years. I believe 4 weeks of annual residency are required.

Yeah but the focus of the Anderson program is to create teaching practitioners in business. If your focus isn't teaching there are better programs that will offer you stipends to go to them instead of paying for them. (There's also that whole "Christian learning" thing that leaves me a bit meh)

The OP states he likes the flexibility of DL, but I wonder if the stipend matters in the equation. I mention it because he states he's been accepted into a B&M school already and may be able to get into a different one that pays him to learn.

Thank you for the suggestion. I did try to search around, but didn't find any new info out there for this question.

Also, I have contacted the administrators about not being able to log in. I received no reply.

The other problem with Anderson is that it's difficult to get into. They only accept 15 new students into the business doctorate program each year and they get close to 50 applicants. They also only accept new students in February each year. HOWEVER, it is, from all I have head, a really great business school. Don't know much about their other programs at Anderson.

Thank for all that responded. I really appreciate the help.

As for stipends. The B&M school I am accepted to does not offer stipends. Thus the search for a cheaper DL school. Most local schools seem to be in the 50-60K range, while DL schools are cheaper as I can shop nationally for a program. Even if the local schools did, the stipends I've seen lately have been in the 18-24K range. My thought was since I can't live on that much money, in an effort to save money, maybe I should just attend a cheaper school. Cheaper than 50-60k total program costs. The savings in program costs (around 30K) will offset the no stipend. Does that make sense?

Now if that doesn't make sense, and there's something I'm missing on the whole stipend thing, please chime in; I'm brand new to shopping for doctoral programs. I'm new to the way they work. I don't mind some constructive help.

(oh and if I don't respond again, maybe I got pulled from the sight or something. I can't seem to log in with my original username. ??? who knows. I thought maybe I just forgot my password but when I put in my correct email in the 'forgot password' spot, it says it doesn't recognize it. Plus, now I see in the original post that under my name is says guest and no post count? I have no idea what's going on. Thanks for the help though!)

New members are subject to a moderation period where nothing you post goes on the board until a mod looks at it. After 10 moderated posts, I think, your posts go directly to the board without moderation.

As far as not replying to your questions, I hear those guys are really busy right now. Sorry you are having trouble.

I hope my limited knowledge helps you.

Thanks for the quick reply. That makes sense. I hope I didn't come across crass. If I did it wasn't my intent. I just wanted to let those that were helping why I had disappeared. I didn't mean to slam any mods or anything. As an example though, it shows my post count and membership status as we speak for this new username. However, my original post now doesn't show any post counts or my membership status. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get an email with some info soon. Thanks for the help.

I noticed yesterday that his account was actually deactivated (note that his user name no longer appears as a link to his user page)
. He is now posting under new name (with the number 1 added to it).

Marks, the same thing happened to me before. It may have just been a system error that deleted your account. What I did was I made a new account with the exact same name and it worked, however, my current account isn't connected with my old account. This means, that if you search the archives, you will notice two different Maniacs running around
