You might want to review this program - looks like a mix of DL and residential.
    Fielding Graduate University

Would this program meet your needs?

I am a Fielding student in the Ph.D. program and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have about Fielding. It is the only one of its kind that is APA accreditted.

    Fielding Info

    Hi
Can you tell me about the program and experiences at Fielding? I am looking for a school to attend, just graduated from Argosy with a Bachelor's in Psy.

Well Fielding is a mix of face to face contact with faculty and independent work conducted under faculty supervision. In some sense it is a cross between the British and American doctorate. For academic work such as developmental or social psychology, you negotiate a "learning contract" with a faculty member who agrees to assess your knowledge in the area. The contract specifies how you will demonstrate your competency, the resources available to you, prior learning or life experiences that you wish to build on, and a time frame for completion. Clinical training is accomplished in face to face venues and on practica and an internship.

Face to face experiences occur at local meetings in various parts of the country. There are opportunities to conduct research in areas that are of interest to you. There are also week long sessions where you get intense exposure to faculty face to face. These involve research training, academic lectures/seminars, psychological testing training, and psychotherapy training. These are great for networking. You will develop friendships and support systems with people all over the country. The faculty are wonderful and the other doctoral students are very supportive.

California Southern University (CalSouthern.edu) is nationally accredited. I am currently attending their school for my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am amazed at the bio's of the people that are currently enrolled at the school. The fees are very reasonable but it is not APA accredited and it is not regionally accredited.

  8. Don't forget the Institute for Transpersonal Psychology's Global Psychology PhD -- if you're into that sort of thing. It is RA.

Question. Are you seeking licensure in California? If so, what licensure is desirable?
