    Hello All,

Looking at my situation, if I get my two exams done by the end of June, I won't be able to graduate from Excelsior until October  I figured that, since yet another two months more than that wouldn't be the end of the world, maybe I could try getting an associate's from a community college instead (from a school that will confer it in the winter, of course).

The thing is, I won't be able to take 5 semester-synchronous courses this fall- NO WAY! Nor would I be able to take any of such courses this summer. However, if there happened to be a community college out there that had both online and correspondence (self-paced) I should be able to do this no problem.

All of that fluff leads to this question: do you know of any community colleges that offer degrees via DL, that also have at least 2 (but hopefully 3!!!) courses that can be completed on a self-paced basis?

    Thanks,
    Maniac Craniac

Are your plans to start at Columbia in the fall? If so, contact Columbia and explain the situation to them. If you have a letter from EC that states that you have completed all graduation requirements and the degree will be conferred in the fall, I believe you would be just fine, especially going from an AA to a BA/BS degree.

No, I won't enroll with Columbia until I am a senior transfer, so probably in the Spring. Since I will be taking some online courses and independent study courses anyway (the plan as of now is that this will be Clovis and LSU, respectively), I'm thinking this may be an alternative for me. Just looking at my options, really, as I always am.

Stupid question - when is the deadline to take the last two CLEPs and graduate when you want?

LSU Independent studies has a ton of self paced correspondence courses in a ton of subjects that are super cheap.

Plus it's a decent B+M school... I would look there first. Don't know of anywhere reputable that has more.

I disagree, and I have my reasons for asking this :p
Frankly, I want to graduate today :D. If everything is in by July 9th, I graduate in October. If everything is in by June 9th (impossible) I graduate in August.

Err, Randall, I may have misinterpreted which question you were calling stupid, mine or yours, but I don't think either is stupid :)

No, it was my question that may be stupid - I thought I missed something. Do you "have" to take those two exams or are there others that you could take? If they are electives, you make have some option for quick tests that are easier and require very little study.

I'm guessing that MC is hoping to rock 12 credits from the CLEP french exam...

MC - If you're not quite prepared for the CLEP french exam right now (or if you're not confident in obtaining the full 12 credits), then perhaps you could take the CLEP - Analyzing and Interpreting Literature (worth 6 credits and very easy) and one other 6 credit CLEP exam (if you're well versed in literature, then perhaps the american or british lit exam). I'm sure that you could take the A&I Lit. exam cold, today, and pass.

I'm not worried about failing an exam, and for several reasons I am set on taking the ones I have already laid out- I'm just considering more options because, as I have noticed, the more information I receive, the clearer my desired path becomes. I am currently pursuing the Excelsior AA-then-cheap credit-then-Columbia Degree path without lettup. However, there are plans A and B and C and D and E and F in the back of my mind. I am currently following plan A, this question relates to something like plan D.

If you are wondering, plan B is to skip the associate's altogether and go into Exam Overdrive to get an Excelsior B.S. in business before the end of my one year of enrollment (in october) while still going for my desired degree from Columbia. The more I think about it, plan B does make a lot of sense, and is certainly doable with my time off this summer.
