Hey I was just wondering if anyone here has heard any updates from TCord1964? He was going to Penn Foster College to do a degree, and then decided to go to Andrew Jackson University, and then decided to discontinue with them.

Last I understood he was going to get an evaluation done at Excelsior College, but there hasn't been any updates about it. He has always been an extremely motivated student and was wondering if he was going to get his degree?

He had a post that he did on elearners but it doesn't look like he has a profile with them anymore and there hasn't been anymore updates with regard to where he has decided to finish up his degree, and if so, when he plans on doing so, and where from.

TCord1964, where are you? Have you decided on where you will get your degree from, and how are things going? I miss your posts and hope everything is going ok.

    Hey, somebody cares! :)

I'm still around. I still post to the eLearners message boards frequently and I pop in here a couple of times a week. I did get my evaluation done at Excelsior, and I'm currently studying for some CLEP exams I plan to take before I officially enroll, which will probably happen this Fall.

I did put my studies on the back burner for awhile to care for my disabled wife, whose health has taken a turn for the worse lately. My son and his wife also moved in with us until they get back on their feet and can get their own place, so I've definitely been keeping busy. We do still have a DL student in the family. My youngest son is studying for his high school diploma with Ashworth High School. So far we're happy with it, but they are slow to send out their study materials.

    Hi Terry,

Sorry to hear about your wife's health. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I recently read that effective July 1st, new BA/BS students enrolling with Excelsior will be required to complete a capstone course. If you enroll prior to this date, then you would not be required to complete this course. Not sure if this is important to you, but I thought I would mention it, in case you decided to enroll prior to this date.

Thanks that's good to know. I guess I'll need to move up my enrollment date!

So now that we all know your not dead, how long was it taking you a semester at PF? Sorry to hear about your wife, hope it all gets better for you!

Well, don't go by me, because I'm probably an example of how not to study at PFC. I love the school and learned a lot there, but due to work, some medical issues of my own, and the fact that I later had to take care of my wife, I would often go long stretches without working on my courses. I did completely finish the first semester, and completed a couple of courses in the second semester. I needed to pay for a few extensions just to complete that. PFC is self-paced, but in a way that was a curse because I took time off from studying, and I knew I could.

After deciding that I wasn't going to finish my studies at PFC, I enrolled at Andrew Jackson University. I can't say enough good things about the school. However, it wasn't self-paced and I really worked hard to keep pace with finishing my courses by the end of the semester. I didn't quite make it, and I had to get an extension. Work commitments and a bout with the N1H1 virus kept me from finishing on time. It also didn't help that I took four courses at the same time, which I do NOT recommend. I still finished with a 4.0 GPA, but it took a lot of late nights and weekends to do it.

I've got to finish about another 30 credits, mostly upper-level and some Gen Ed credits to finish my BA. I plan to get my degree from Excelsior. It has taken me longer than I wanted. I originally started my DL odyssey in 2005, but I am determined to finish. I have my eye on an MS in Public Relations at Ball State.
