Interesting article. I am a huge basketball fan and it's good to see the guy turning it around. I too was interested in the schools accreditation, wonder why he didn't finish up at GA Tech?

Shaquille O'neal has an MBA from U of P. And from my neck of the woods Golden State Warrior and former Gonzaga basketball star Rony Turiaf completed his degree and attended the graduation ceremony here in Spokane.

Now Kenny Anderson can go talk to other young sports stars and tell them his cautionary tell. Guess how many will listen?

    Zero.

That's good. It would've been a bummer for him to put the time, money, and effort to a worthless degree after all his financial troubles. I wonder if Georgia Tech granted him the option to finish his degree with them for free. After all, he did make them tons of money during his playing days.

Did you mean Shaquille O' Neal has an NBA from University of Phoenix Suns or an MBA from UOP? What? Now, UOP has definitely lost more credibility in my eyes, LOL! I would love to listen in on his interviews for mid level management positions.

    Don't laugh...

    Hi

We had a longish thread on this topic back in 2005 when Shaq graduated from UoP and hinted he might aim for a doctorate

Furthermore, I doubt he'll be interviewing for any mid-level positions any time soon. By his UoP graduation time, he'd earned over $191 million as an NBA player, and signed a subsequent $100 million deal that year.

Shaq appears to have been smarter than many other players when it comes to holding on to his earnings. He lives in a 60,000 square-foot house complete with an indoor basketball court. I can't afford that. Can you?

I wouldn't knock the guy -- he might hear about it! :)

I didn't even know he graduated from LSU, let alone got his MBA from UOP. I don't know how I missed that. As far as him making $191 million over his career, I consider that more of a windfall than him actually earning it. I like sports but athletes are waaay overpaid. I do think you are giving him a little too much credit for not being in the poor house considering he made $191 million. I know there are a few athletes on the news recently that have lost all their millions, but most people with an average IQ without much education can live off the interest of $191 million. You don't need an MBA to figure that out.
