I would like feedback on only these two schools. If someone wants to have the ability to get into Financial Analyst, Risk Management, and even possibly Premium Auditing positions, which of the two would provide more practical learning. Liberty University - MS Accounting NorthCentral University - MBA in Financial Management
MBA in Finance or MS in Accounting ERR, how come I can't edit the title. I was trying to change it to MBA in Finance and MS in Accounting.
For risk management I would say finance. Auditing is definitely accounting. For financial analysis, it's a toss up. The closest thing I've ever found that offers a masters degree with a good mix of both accounting and finance is the MS in Finance through The University of Michigan, Dearborn. The majority of the classes are in finance but you have three electives courses to fill, which can be in accounting. College of Business - Graduate Studies: MS in Finance
University of Houston at Clear Lake offers a MS program in Finance. It can be fully completed online OnlineM.S.-Finance I actually started this program in January this year, and so far so good.
Southern New Hampshire University does offer an Accounting/Financial masters with an equal-mix of courses ...check it out here

I decided to enroll at National University's Master in Accountancy program. I thought about some of the other programs in the east, but since I want to stay in the west coast, I think this program fits my needs. I thought about CSU-Sacramento, but living in California, I'm not too happy with this school, and it would take me another year to get into this. I plan to complete my CPCU designation by August 28th, then plan to start MAcc program on August 30th, taking one course per month over the next year. I saw the online tutorial and visited the school and think this program will give me a head start on preparing for CPA exam.
I think accounting is a more "actionable" choice. It's a specific trade that can get you a job and you can learn finance through finance electives. Go for accounting. There's real demand out there for that. And if you want to do risk management then start taking some of the actuary exams, but you'll definitely need a strong math background for that. 2-3 semesters of calculus and calc based probability.
Thank you, I'm truly looking forward to this. I think hitting one course every month for 12 months will give me a better chance to retain everything. I also like the idea that I can take the comprehensive exam to get me prepared for the CPA exam. I also came to same conclusion about MAcc degree being more "actionable" choice. I noticed if I went the MBA route, I would still lack enough of the specialization of a particular field to make that transition. I guess that's why I noticed a lot of the jobs would say BS Finance or Accounting, and MBA desired. Since my business degree was general business, I didn't have enough credits in either one to make an impact. I thought about 2 courses per semester, NU's is set up that one course follows the other in sequential order.
