In reading previous posts about what makes a school respected, several people stated that having a football team is what puts a school on the map. I was wondering about how to garner respect for my school and in a flash of sheer genius, I have decided to start a football team for NCU. The beauty of my amazing idea is the fact that, since it is a DL school, we can draw team members from all over the United States. I currently have my minions approaching Drew Brees as the most likely quarterback. Do you have any other suggestions?

This makes me yearn for the good old days prior to corporate sponsorship/ownership of Stadiums... Back in my day, with had the Capital Centre. Then it became US Airways Arena/USAir arena... Ugh.. Now we have places with names like the Tampax Professional Arena and the Q-Tip Auditorium and Depends Stadium. Blech... Makes me want to do vile things to these marketing 'geniuses' /now get off my lawn!

I must wonder what DegreeInfo was like before the two of us became the class clowns. Lets flip this and add an interesting real-life scenario. Why don't some of the DL schools organize online chess or poker leagues or the like? That would be nice, eh? Think of the possibilities... NCU doctorate candidates could get a full ride on a Spades scholarship! The major leagues of board and card games could start a collegiate draft! Imagine if someone later on made the big time and won the FIDE or WPT championship wearing an Excelsior sweatshirt! The day will come when someone says "Oh, your alma mater was UCONN! Do they have a Monopoly team? No? Then they are not a real school!"
