Well, had it not been for your HLC link, I would have been all ready to write: "If Global were granted RA in late February, it would be in the CHEA and/or USDE databases by now. And it's not shown in Global's entry in the CHEA database; and it's also not shown in... er..."

...at which point I would have written "oops," because lo and behold, thar she blows in Global's entry in the USDE database: Accredited 1/10/2010 (though the HLC link shows it to have been on February 26th) by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, which is one of the so-called "six big regional accreditors." And, of course, it continues to be DETC accredited, as well.

It's also on Global's own accreditation page.

So... hmm. How 'bout that. That one got past me.

Begged, of course, is the always-interesting question of whether Global will continue to be DETC accredited over time.

I've always thought Global was a pretty cool little operation... a little too theologically conservative for my tastes, though. And I've always choked on its MDiv's biblical languages requirement. Other than that, though, the fact that its MDiv -- not only nationally accredited, but also now regionally accredited -- may be earned entirely by distance is very cool, indeed.

I've been impressed by Global as well. They have a solid faculty. I wonder if they will offer an accredited D.Min eventually. I have a feeling a lot more people will take a second look at Global now that they have achieved RA.
