..after 5 years on this forum, I have received -0- spam.. how about sending a pm to the mods rather than making a foolish post.

Same here - seven years and no forum related spam.

Regarding the googling, this is what happens when you list your full name on a public forum. People need to think before they post.

You have 4 posts, 2 in this thread. The other 2 have nothing of consequence. I'd wager your spam issues likely originate elsewhere.

Ironic that you posted on the forum asking for them to delete your posts.

This person was looking into UofP and I am willing to bet that they signed up through Monster to receive some information from them and probably signed up at other places as well.

That is where your spam comes from, not here. I've been on here for a number of year (6-7?) and have never had any spam from here.

How'd your educational journey go by the way?

while there are many possibilities regarding spam, the revoked option of deleting a post is outright disrespectful. There is no reason why online privacy should be denied. "Think before you post", is a retarded answer. I didn't post anything controversial or secret. i simply dont want my information on this site. Thats completely understandable. And you should respect that.

The information that concerns you has been deleted from your posts. The posts themselves remain. Hopefully you've learned not to post info that you don't want others to know. I'd like to point out that you clearly never read the TOS which you agreed to follow when you registered. I say this for the benefit of others who may also be thinking of registering without reading the TOS. Hopefully you'll stick around. Maybe you won't. Whatever.

Anyways, you can't hide from Google (and others) cache, or archive.org

So, that means NOT thinking before you post is.... what?

I agree that there should be the option of deleting previous posts, however, this isn't my site (nor yours) and I go into this thing with the understanding that someone else makes the rules.

My choice is to remain anonymous. That's an option for everyone. No one here knows my name, where I live, where I have lived nor what my full educational backround is (only that which I am currently pursuing).

Many, many, many, many, many forum communities revoke the ability to delete or edit posts across a variety of disciplines and hobbies. I'd also like to point out that you have neither the ability to edit or delete anything that comes out of your mouth on a daily basis.

Think before you post is an emergent property of think before you speak.

The concept that the Internet, developed for sharing information and communication is intended to be private in any way shape, or form is what is understandable and you should edit your thought process to respect that.

(unnecessary comment edited by Admin. Oh, the irony)

This is a good lesson for all. I didn't realize all the information one can get from posting over years, and learned that the hard way. The admins were awesome about helping me out when an issue arose. So, think before you post is a good lesson, and reading the TOC is another, but most importantly knowing the admin/mods will always help, when it is warranted is another strenght of this board.

Noted re: irony. :) Here's the thing, he really did deserve that comment and I did think about it twice before posting it.

I wish I could have read it before it got deleted. :)

This appears to be a young person, so maybe this is a good life lesson for him/her. I regularly make the following comment to my students: "Computer software has an "undo" button, but unfortunately life does not".

Let me get this straight... we can not delete posts that we don't want, but can not post what we do want?
